The Guess Connect's best function is its voice-control feature, which can activate Siri or Google Now. It could still offer better battery life (despite surpassing the regular Apple Watch) but a powerful and accurate GPS is great for exploring, especially with watchOS 10's improved hiking waypoints feature, plus it's a working dive computer with the Oceanic Plus app.
Watch Series 9's biggest addition is the new Double Tap feature, allowing the Apple Watch to be controlled at least partially hands-free. While the Watch Series 9's battery life remains average and the watch looks the same as previous models, there's good reason why Apple's iconic squircle look and huge display are so popular.
Striking and Stylish
So is this the answer to the smartwatch question? The idea works but the Guess Connect isn't reliable enough in use. Guess Connect: Design Alerts are the Guess Connect's bread and butter, as with all Martian powered watches, but we found the connectivity and reliability here to be a bit of a pain. We dropped our Bluetooth connection a couple of times and also had some trouble dismissing WhatsApp messages. Seriously, they wouldn't leave us alone, even though we were pressing the correct button - the 'down' or power button. Tapping on the watch glass to see our latest notification also didn't work every time. Disappointing. As we say, there's also a heart rate monitor on board to continuously keep a tab on your heart rate throughout the day, as well as during your workouts. We weren't overly impressed by the accuracy of data in our testing, but we do still think there's value here for those who truly just want basic smarts - namely, notifications in a very stylish-looking watch. To set up what notifications can come through to your Guess Connect, you'll need to use the companion app for iOS and Android. Divided into four sections — My Watch, Alarms, Alerts and Settings — the app is clean and easy to use.
Each model will also last around two weeks on a single charge, too, so it'll go longer than most 'proper' smartwatches. It works with Android and iOS devices with the Skagen companion app letting you assign shortcut features to the pushers that sit above and below the crown. They can also be used to scroll through messages. While the Pebble watches are also nontouch, they have three buttons — up, down and select — which make it easier for you to navigate the interface. Android Wear and Apple Watch are easier to use, thanks to their touch screens. Notifications: You Won't Miss Anything Overall, the app's interface is straightforward. Interacting with the Guess Connect primarily requires pushing the knobs on its right side. Holding down the lower button turns the watch on, and pushing the upper knob once launches the voice-control tool. When the Connect is on, pressing the bottom button lets you scroll through the watch's menu, while the upper button lets you select options. The menu options are Music Mode, Volume, Light, Do Not Disturb, Camera Mode, Stopwatch, Find Phone and Setup.This is still far away from the functionality you'll find in a touchscreen watch, but it does impress by taking the hybrid concept and pushing it into a place we haven't seen before. The Vivomove 3 and Vivomove 3S are at the more affordable end, with the hidden screen sitting on the bottom half of the watch face and delivering the likes of notifications, activity data, and more. It isn’t always clear how to access features – although the general rule is that the top button acts as a confirm, while the bottom one declines or cycles through to a different option – and those who are coming from a fully fledged smartwatch will find that not having a full-face touchscreen makes everything less intuitive to use, at least at first. Notifications One nice thing is the customisable vibrations for alerts so you know exactly which app is buzzing you, more on that later. The watchmaker has added four new looks to its gent's collection with the Vitality taking a similar approach to Garmin and Withings watches mentioned above, adding a digital screen inside of the analog watch face.
