About this deal

Make war and move on, and again, and again, until nothing breathes which stands against us. All else is sophistry and pretty lies.”

Ferrus Manus: The Gorgon of Medusa (Volume 7) (The Horus Ferrus Manus: The Gorgon of Medusa (Volume 7) (The Horus

The Iron Hands as a whole prosecuted a vicious, sustained rearguard action throughout the remainder of the Heresy, and scored a number of significant victories, including the destruction of the World-Eaters recruitment world of Bodt. They were a steel thorn in Horus’ side until he drew his last breath on the Vengeful Spirit. Fulgrim managed to surge to his feet and lashed out, his silver blade biting deep into the breastplate of Ferrus' armour, and the primarch of the Iron Hands cried out, falling to his knees once again. Fireblade slid from his grasp as he gasped in fierce agony. Fulgrim saw Ferrus Manus reaching for his fallen sword, his fingers closing around the wire-wound grip, the flames leaping once more to the blade at its creator's touch. As soon as I finished reading Fulgrim, I pulled my copy of Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa from the shelf. I had zero interest in reading about Ferrus before, but now I needed to know more about him. Captive phase-gates, subatomic infusers and temporal loop shrouds can all exhibit similar effects to nanoscarab swarms. To a Necron Overlord, how these abilities work is of little concern, as long as they do. Necrodermis is the xenos material created over sixty million standard years ago by the Necrontyr species that is often described as "living metal." It was originally used by the Necrontyr to construct their massive sub-light starships that explored and settled the Milky Way Galaxy millions of standard years ago.

Fulgrim's blade seemed to move with a life of its own as he swung the sword of his own volition. Fulgrim tried desperately to pull the blow, but his muscles were no longer his own to control. The Daemonic blade sliced through the genetically-enhanced flesh and bone of one of the Emperor's sons. The Iron Hands' primarch fell to the ground, his head decapitated. Manus finds himself in a cavern system, assaulted by various visions and other sensory perceptions of death; that of his legion, his colleagues and even his own. He also comes across metaphorical representations of his brothers, and is momentarily puzzled by the feelings of betrayal looking at the statue of Fulgrim engenders. Combined with all this, he feels pursued by a malignant, serpentine entity. Irritated by such witchery, he presses onwards in exploring the caverns. Hailing from the soot-choked sprawl of Old Albia, the loyal Qavitine Plate cities, and all over Ancient Terra, the early X Legion was already known for the warrior discipline and ironclad determination that would serve them well in battles to come. The Imperial Army’s human troops were a little less appreciative of the Legion’s low regard for their capabilities – there’s no time for the little people when you’re on that Great Crusade grindset. In the 41st Millennium, presumably this mighty weapon is still in the possession of the Daemon Primarch Perturabo, who resides on the Daemon World of Medrengard deep within the Warp rift known as the Eye of Terror. Ancient Remembrancer sketch of Ferrus Manus, Primarch of the Iron Hands Legion; illustration taken from Carpinus' Speculum Historiale The C'tan Phase Weapons used by the Imperium's Callidus Assassins are also made of necrodermis. These weapons were adapted from the remains of Necron technology discovered to lie buried dormant under Mars by the Adeptus Mechanicus many millennia ago. Fulgrim accepted the challenge with regal grace, and both primarchs had stripped to the waist, working without pause for solar weeks on end, the forge ringing with the deafening pounding of hammers, the hiss of cooling metal, and the good-natured insults of the two demigods as they sought to outdo one another. You might have noticed that we’ve been having some fun this week pitting primarchs against one another in a death match. While rolling dice, we also got to thinking about the many clashes between the demigod sons of the Emperor in the Horus Heresy novels – and we wanted to share some of the ones we love with you. If we’ve missed out your favourite, it’s only because there are so many awesome options… Fulgrim vs Ferrus Manus
