I thought that this book was enjoyable to read although I thought that Vicky's death was very tragic. Itry going to school again on Tuesday but when I get near and see all the flowers on the Vicky spot, more and more of them, acarpet of roses and lilies and freesias, flickering candles, and a children's zoo of cuddly toys, it's all too much. We've been best friends ever since we were at nursery school together and I crept up to Vicky at the water trough and she pulled a funny face and then tipped her red plastic teapot and started watering me.

Additionally, Jade's situation can easily be understood as she is feeling upset to have lost Vicky but then is happy when she is around, which is a difficult position to be in. Jacqueline has received countless honors and has won several awards in England, including The Young Telegraph/Fully Booked Award for The Bed and Breakfast Star, the Smarties Prize, the Sheffield Children’s Book Award and the Children’s Book Award for Double Act. Jades teacher approaches her and asks her if she would like to receive further help from a counsellor to help her to overcome the constant presence of Vicky who she admits to seeing.
