About this deal

Guinness World Records titles has always been known to highlight the most impressive things from all across our planet such as the fastest, the heaviest, the biggest or the longest. Next up is the world’s smallest newspaper, which in case you didn’t realize, is placed next to the coffee cup! The individual molecules of carbon monoxide were placed as pixels on a copper sheet to create each frame of the film. The molecules were positioned using a Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM), which uses an ultra-fine metal tip to move the molecules with electrical charge.

The micro machine has a wheelbase of 80 mm (3.14 in), a seat height of 65 mm (2.55 in), weighs 1.1 kg (2.4 lb) and is powered to a top speed of 2 km/h (1.24 mph) by its 0.22 kW (0.3 hp) engine. It comprised of 242 individual frames with a frame size of only 45 nanometres by 25 nanometres (45 x 25 billionths of a metre). How the film was made When Milly (or Miracle Milly as per her name on her pedigree) was born on 1 December 2011, she weighed less than one ounce (28 g), could fit in a teaspoon and had to be fed with an eyedropper. It measured at just 54 mm (2.12 in) long - you can see it in the image above next to a standard sized business card. And if you have hard floors, look for a vacuum cleaner that comes with a dedicated cleaner head, which has a softer brush roll to ensure the flooring isn’t damaged when vacuuming. It exists in complete isolation from any other species in complete darkness and temperatures of 60° C.

Since the overall system still wants to be in mechanical equilibrium, some of the gas molecules move from the hot chamber into the cold chamber. If you then close a valve between the hot and cold chambers, and let the temperature of the hot chamber return to the original value, the pressure in the hot chamber will be less than before the heating-cooling cycle was performed. The pair of chambers and appropriate valves acts as a vacuum pump. It's not all good. The V15 Detect Absolute can be very noisy when running in full power mode, it only has an average sized dust canister and it's very expensive. But we think it’s worth the money if you want a top-of-the-range vacuum cleaner. DARPA sought a vacuum system no bigger than a US penny that is able to produce a vacuum of less than 100 microPascals (uPa, a billionth of atmospheric pressure) in a vacuum chamber with at least a cubic millimeter of volume (about the size of a grain of coarse sand). The vacuum system was to use less than a quarter of a watt, and contain instruments to accurately measure the pressure in the chamber.

We tested our Henry in a family home during various stages of renovation. From vacuuming-up flour and sugar, to accidentally broken glass and small chunks of rubble left over from an internal wall removal, we found that this canister vacuum cleaner was a really valuable addition to the home. We also learnt that the long, 2.5 meter hose could attach to either the crevice, dusting or brush and mattress tool, and reach up into the higher areas and / or get into some awkward spots. The mini newspaper is an edition of the newspaper Terra Nostra (Portugal) and measures at 18.27 x 25.35 mm (0.72 x 0.99 in). The outstanding newspaper weighs at 1 g only. In a nutshell, Dyson vacuums are more expensive but this ensures you get a vacuum cleaner that’s extremely powerful but still lightweight and easy to maneuver around your home. Dyson vacuums are stuffed with cutting edge technology too, from lasers that highlight hidden dust to innovative floor heads that can be moved in any direction. If you prefer a cordless model, they also come with long-lasting batteries too. It was created by Gerard Jenkins-Omar and Stephen Robson (both UK) and was measured in Rotherham, UK, on 24 September 2016.

All the debris was contained in a six litre Hepaflo bag which we found didn't fill up for a good number of weeks. To remove the bag, the top of the Numatic Henry HVR160 could be easily unclipped. No dust bunnies or debris escaped in the removal process which was a huge relief to our reviewer. Although the CSVMP program was initially focused on developing microscale pumps for for better chemical and biological pathogen detection through small mass spectrometry gas analyzer applications, other potential applications for the technology became apparent. Whichever style you select, consider whether the dust canister is large enough to clean all of the floors in your home, without needing to stop and be emptied half way through.

This little Game Boy fits on a key chain and boasts an impressive selection of the original Game Boy games. To help appreciate the magnitude of the task DARPA had posed, consider the Creare Engineering miniature turbo/drag pump, considered to be the world's smallest practical turbo pump produced by conventional machining tools. The pump is some 3.8 cm in diameter with a length of 8 cm, making it slightly larger than a D-cell battery. It weighs about 150 g (5.3 oz), and can reach an ultimate pressure of a few uPa. The pumping speed is four liters/second at a rotor speed of 200,000 rpm, and consumes about 2 W in doing so. This pump needs to be followed by a roughing pump as it cannot pump against atmospheric pressure.
