About this deal

With that being said, the popular choices for MB 325.0 coolants are: Zerex G05 (slight yellow-ish tint), Genuine MB coolant (It use to be blue-colored Zerex G05), Zerex G48 (which is also blue, and the same thing as current Genuine MB coolant, and probably the same thing as Genuine BMW coolant). If those are not available, you also have Castrol Radicool which is 325.0. Every diesel and gasoline-powered engine contains a constant series of small explosions while running. The fuel igniting in the cylinders creates the power that drives the car and sends us on our way, but as you might imagine, those explosions make things hot. Those explosions can weaken and warp the metal around it if left long enough, effectively destroying the engine components. Coolant and cooling systems prevent that, so your engine can last as long as it’s taken care of.

Corrosion Prevention : Coolant will stop rust and damage, keeping your engine and cooling system in good shape for longer. If the engine temperature rises when driving, or there is steam coming from under the hood, you must stop immediately, turn off the engine and let the engine cool down.Traditional or 'standard' coolants for systems with aluminium components use silicates for corrosion protection and these tend to 'drop out' over time hence 2 year service life. Some manufacturers switched to OAT as it lasts longer and some engines don't like the stuff- one/some of the corrosion inhibitors in certain types/brands can soften some plastics over time... dexcool is one of the usual suspects associated with this, specifically the inhibitor 2-EHA

Newer coolants use an Organic Acid Technology (OAT) and last up to twice as long as older coolant. In some cases these long-life coolants can last over 5 years or 100,000 miles. The different colours are non specific to the different types of antifreeze. The manufacturer can dye the product any colour they want. The colour is no guide to the actual type of antifreeze type and the label should be read before use. Performing a coolant flush on your Mercedes-Benz requires expertise and tools beyond regular vehicle maintenance tasks. Attempting such a task at home without professional experience can result in significant risks for yourself, your vehicle, and the environment. We strongly advise against this procedure at home to avoid such risks. Coolant can be plain water; water is a very effective coolant but would not protect against sub freezing temperatures or protect against corrosion inside the engine. The use of antifreeze protects against both problems.Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is a liquid that helps regulate the engine’s temperature and prevents it from overheating. It circulates throughout the engine, absorbs the heat generated by the combustion process, and transfers it to the radiator, where it is cooled before returning to the engine.

Coolant also serves as a lubricant for components of the engine’s cooling system. It helps prevent corrosion and rust and provides protection for gaskets and seals. None other than the user may want to use the pre-mixed product due to ease of handling or cost and visa versa. The newer OAT coolants work differently than the older silicate based IAT coolants. Aluminium and ferrous metals form a surface-layer of corrosion in the presence of moisture, even with the little bit of moisture in the air. OAT coolants prevent this metal-oxide layer that protects the surface against this corrosion. Inherent with their design, the OAT coolants last longer than the older traditional IAT coolants. This category of antifreeze cannot be used in systems containing yellow metals. When there is not enough coolant inside the cooling system, the coolant (if any) will lose its ability to cool the engine. When an extensive amount of coolant is missing, the engine will overheat within a few minutes. To help clear some of the confusion up on the more technical details of antifreeze and coolants we enlisted the help of Martyn Mann – Technical Director, Millers Oils UK - who has provided the information below.
