About this deal

If you feel yourself developing a soul, go outside immediately and follow the direction of the smoke until you meet them.

Day 13 (Saturday, 5/4): Foundation agents investigate the case of the Boyars and determine a possible link between their outburst and the book titled Star Signals. The Boyars’ copy is confiscated for examination, as well as a new copy from a local bookstore. I bought this book because I loved the stories of SCPs and what their existence could do to impact humanity. But this novel or book was pretty terrible. For one I did not like how they portrayed the characters (especially Iris/ SCP-105) they in a way kinda sexualized her or made her very naive or just made the character stupid. And the SCPs that were chosen to be written for this novel were boring, except one. The story also makes no sense. I leave you with a warning: Command’s stance on the topic is that the sleepers have been eradicated, but it is my belief that the operation was not local. If, at any point, you detect a whiff of bullshit (or smoke, for that matter), tell your Director. Hell, tell me. And if you’re a Fifthist yourself, and you’re reading this, I can only congratulate you on your success. But I should ask: does the phrase “A * A *” mean anything to you? It does to me. Make sure to ask your deacon. Day 18 (Thursday, 5/9): The rate at which instances of SCP-1425 are confiscated begins to slow. Most remaining readers are under the influence of SCP-1425’s suggestion and have no intention of relinquishing their copy of the text. In metropolitan areas across coastal America and major cities in Britain, as well as towns in the southern US near Foundation facilities and known to be areas where the sect known as “Southern Fifthism” has taken root, agents travel from door to door in hazardous materials suits, using the cover story that copies of Star Signals have been contaminated by ricin powder. A small percentage of occupied houses contained subjects moderately affected by SCP-1425 who resisted agents, who resorted to physical coercion in confiscating SCP-1425. During the personal intervention operations of Days 18 and 19, nine subjects under the effects of SCP-1425 are terminated in America due to their impeding the continued execution of Protocol Ophiuchus, and only four such incidents occur in England. In Britain, where the Fifth Church’s influence seems to be much weaker, SCP-1425 is believed to be almost entirely eradicated.

The good thing with this novel is that it made SCPs more known since I got this in my local comic shop in the mall and the art illustrated in this novel was beautiful I loved Iris and Dr. Bright shown in this anime art style! I hope if a new volume is to ever be published that they fix the problem with the characters and write stories on more fun SCPs rather than just all SAFE classes. The story was confusing. For one, in the beginning of The Carnival Of Horrors (SCP-823) chapter we meet these three soldiers and when the main character mentions the name Dr Bright they start to treat the main character with kindness or sympathy. Because he was tangled up in Bright’s mess. Later on the female soldier in the group reveals that she has a family and a younger brother. Which was revealed later on by Bright that he was her brother. Which makes no sense! Either Bright was joking or something but that made no sense! If they were siblings and the soldier knew the name of Bright before this she wouldn’t be fighting there to begin with because her brother would be a researcher and scientist! (She only worked there to give her family a better life) But Bright would be a lot younger and the soldier said that he was probably around the same age as the main character! And Bright is like a lot older than that when he was working in the foundation, yet they still recognized the name Bright even though Dr Bright as a young teenager, wouldn’t be working at the foundation in that time!

I really did want to like this but I can't. About the only good thing I can say is that it made me aware of the SCP Foundation. I've enjoyed reading the files and watching some short films. Repeat the fact in disbelief ("I could not believe that a being that was half a cat was in front of me. But it was there, so it had to be real.")With a basic premise like that, there is hypothetically a lot of wiggle room to make a fun story. You can try and balance drama, horror, and levity, which would likely be the best recipe for the subject matter. Whether it pertains a mysterious dark staircase which descends to physically impossible depths or a benign figure who offers a last cigarette to the ones who have been left alone on their deathbed, the foundation must document, study, secure, contain these strange phenomenons. In your current society, you are encouraged to “be yourself”, as if this is the key to making your desires real. What does that mean? It doesn’t mean anything. You can’t be anyone other than yourself. If you were to be someone else, you would still be “you”, and “you” would be someone who is someone else. There is no getting out from under existence. Because you can’t be anyone else, it stands to reason that, if you want change in your reality, it is the world that must change to suit you. You must mold your phenomenological landscape into one where all your goals are achieved. Let me get a few things straight. I like the SCP foundation, I also like (some) light novels. So when I saw this book in Barnes & Noble, you could say I was pretty hyped. Unfortunately, this book, while pretty light and cute, was a total let down. Star Focus: Find your night spot and begin to focus on your star. [ Prologue, Section 3: “Star Focus Calendar”: “April ██: Epsilon Sagittarii. If you can’t find it in your star chart, it’s the base of the hunter’s bow and the brightest star in the constellation.”] As you stare up into it, use your mind-clearing word. Your meditation is: “████, ████. Now is our time. Here is our space. We take your star. We hold your bonds. Repay your debt. ████, ████, ████.” Don’t worry about memorization; any time you use your mind-clearing word, you’ll remember them, even if you only read them once. If you do it right, your star will disappear. You’ll feel it resonating with the others in your void.
