About this deal

Once you’re done, run a BED_MESH_CALIBRATE and look at your numbers. You will find you’re within hundredths of a millimeter. Do all this with a cold bed, by the way. Honestly, it doesn’t seem to matter. Flexible and removable: Can be slightly bent to pop off the prints. It is convenient especially for prints with large area. Creality Ender 5 3D printer. We will analyze the specs and features of this cost-effective FDM printer and talk about some of the useful upgrades you should look for. So, if you are wondering if the Ender 5 is the right printer to buy, scroll down and read our review to find your answer. The inclusion of a metal extruder kit is a small change, the benefit of which only shows up later as there is less wear and greater stability.

The device sports an industrial circuit board, which grants stable performance and high-load safety inspection. Also, it enables continuous printing for over 200 hours. While I recommend following the existing links/guides to leveling/tramming the bed, I find there are 2 primary issues with a new E5+ printer with this glass bed that you dont expect. Durable: The steel plate is made of high quality stainless steel, which has good flatness and durability.

Applications

An additional lead-screw on the Z-axis is another big improvement, stabilizing the drive and reducing the likelihood of build errors. The Ender 5 and Ender 5 Pro have only a single lead-screw that is made for a much less stable build platform. So I recommend first step with a new Ender glass bed is to get some Acetone, heat the bed to 70C and wipe the bed until there is no more yellow factory residue. Then start the leveling process and test prints, adjusting z-offset as you go. Starting with 210C nozzle and 60C is pretty safe with most filaments. Once those adhere, print temp towers for your filament choice and alter your nozzle temp as appropriate for the filament for best layer adhesion strength.

Most printers have an open design, including the Ender 5 Plus, which can limit your options of materials to print with. The issue with an open design is that the ambient temperature around the print can be quite low. While this is fine when printing in PLA, PETG, and TPU, materials such as nylon, ABS, and ASA like having higher temperatures. This is where Creality’s enclosure comes in. The addition of a 4.3” touch screen is a big improvement, making the user interface feel more direct and natural, and allowing more eyes on setup, jogging, and operation. As for the product, when correctly installed and configured (according to the notes above), it is a five star product, I am extremely happy with it. When you run your next print, your bed should probe a bed mesh as it heats. The only time I’ve found this annoying is if I’ve had to restart a print a few mintues in becase of some dumb thing I’ve done but I just accept that as punishment for being dumb. For most users, it’s a rare occurrence to build that big of a project, and in most cases, it can be accommodated by printing in parts and bonding. But makers are very often not easily satisfied people. The Ender 5 is a larger and better version of the Ender 3 Pro. It is engineered with a magnetic heated bed, an 8-mm-rod for the Z-axis, a dual Y-axis engine, and a dedicated stepper motor for each of the axes. It features an auto-resume function aimed at preventing printing failures due to power loss. This lets you complete your print jobs at any time. The Ender 5 can print as fast as 80mm/s without affecting the quality of the model. It features a build area of 220 x 220 x 300mm. This is set for my most common print temperatures so you may want to change the bed_temp and ext_temp variables. I also have the CURA purge line included as a separate macro because I like it for priming the nozzle. You can include anything you want your printer to do on the start of a print and the beauty part is you don’t need to reslice if you make a change here because the actions are controlled by the Klipper config, not the slicer. You could make both these commands one macro or use a different priming method. The bed is manually calibrated. The easy-to-turn large dials placed at the corners of the bed makes the process faster. If you want to automatize the operation, you can mod the printer by installing a BLTouch auto bed leveling system. The pei is a little thin, please mind the distance between nozzle and surface to avoid scratching it. The Bowden tubing on a Creality Ender 5 Plus can be a bit too large for the filament. This can cause it to bend on itself and jam in some cases, especially with more flexible filaments.
