Isherwood began writing the book in 1934, while he and his companion Heinz Neddermayer were living in the Canary Islands. In a Nr Fine slipcase (has a few VERY light white lines on bottom edge from scuffing on the shelf - probably removable - negligible). Although it’s never quite clear exactly what is being imported or exported, whatever it is, it doesn’t appear to be entirely above board.
