Who said '90s fragrances are no longer wearable? Cerruti 1881 Men is a very nicely crafted barbershop/aromatic concoction that opens with a fresh and classy lavender/bergamot/juniper accord, very much in the rein of many of the '80s powerhouse fragrances but with a touch of mentholic bitterness which I assume comes from the cypress.

It’s a very hard fragrance to describe in terms of notes, but as I say, the image it connotes for me is the cool girl of the 90s but specifically in a hot climate. I think I will enjoy this one more when the weather heats up, as on my skin in January it’s very harsh and strong. I first noticed this scent on a colleague of mine and had to have it immediately. That was 5 years ago and I still love it and keep buying it.

This is a very, very nice and pleasant fougere and to my nose, smells well blended and certainly non-synthetic. On me, this plays out like CD Eau Sauvage with the added oakmoss and juniper that somehow does NOT smell bitter. Very tamed. I get no pine or lemon, or other distinct woods or specific citruses after the opening. It is just overall woody and citrus-y; blended with great expertise.

The first images that come to mind are powdery green and clear water. Definitely also echo what Jondelour (two comments below) wrote. Reformulation, albeit still perfectly passable & palatable, smells strongly of alcohol and then touches on fuzzy mold.) This (20y.o. version)is a nice citrus Aromatic! It opens with a dull citrus, "dirty" pine blast & subtle musk. Settles to a dull citrus, "dirty" grass, faint musk; Finally to a woodsy mint skin scent. Green-ish/citrus-y/floral-ish juniper-centered fragrance with support of vetiver and woods. Ooooooh my gooooodddd what a fantastic thing!!!No oakmoss-extract is listed in the ingredients-list on the box, but it doesn't smell completely moss-free..? My bottle is the new formulation. Still smells as good as ever very strong when applied so be aware of this, To me this is a classic smell and very sophisticated. I go for two sprays and no more with this and will last all day 8-10 hours. Hot weather calls for cool, refreshing scents. A noble aromatic fougere such as this fits the bill, with its quenching juniper, bright citrus and fresh pine, with a reliable oakmoss dry down. To my nose, the musk is also very present, in fact this reminds me a little of Narciso Pure Musc but, in this one, the floral aspect predominates and in the Narciso the musk takes centre stage.
