What Causes Exhaust Smoke?

Burning of hydrogen-rich fuel produces water vapor; this results in smoke containing droplets of water. In absence of other color sources (nitrogen oxides, particulates...), such smoke is white and cloud-like.

However, if this did not solve the issue, it could mean that the air-fuel ratio may be off. If your vehicle is burning more fuel than air, this is caused by: Smoking Colored smoke, Smoke Paintball, pink and blue 3D art, purple, ink, violet png 658x809px 480.82KB Lee, C.C. (1 January 2005). A bad fuel pressure regulator: The fuel system works within a specific pressure range which is controlled by a fuel pressure regulator. The pressure will tend to fluctuate; if it is too low the engine will not start because the fuel will not reach the engine. If it’s too high then the engine will run rough and too much fuel will be used. a b c Reuter, M.A.; Boin, U.M.J.; Schaik, A. van; Verhoef, E.; Heiskanen, K.; Yang, Yongxiang; Georgalli, G. The Smoke Composition comprises Carbon Monoxide (CO), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Sulphur Oxides (SOx), and Particulate Matter (PM2.5). The percentage concentration of each component is dependent on the fuel burned and burning conditions. Firstly, it depends on whether you have a petrol or diesel engine, as there are various causes of exhaust smoke. It’s actually possible that even hybrid cars will release smoke if there is a mechanical fault with your car.
