Alice the Cat is an engrossing read that seamlessly blends supernatural elements, emotional depth, and the complexities of human connections.Pusey was an authority on the fathers of the Christian Church, and in Carroll's time Pusey was known as the Patristic Catenary (or chain), after the chain of authority of Church patriarchs. We saw rapid success and just 3 days later, Neko was not only eating, but out of his hiding place and eating by himself out in the kitchen. A 2015 article published in the Cheshire History journal examined these suggested origins, along with numerous others seen on the internet. And while nothing is ‘all fixed’ by the end of the book (again, realism) there is hope that Tess is on a brighter, healing path. While the author does a passible job of portraying Francine’s emotions, capturing her torment and the unresolved issues that bind her to the earthly realm, the ultimate resolution felt somewhat rushed.

Prior to 1951 when Walt Disney released an animated adaptation of the story (see below), there were few post-Alice allusions to the character. In 'Looking Glass', the third book of the Alice Trilogy by Christina Henry, Hatcher needed help with his Seer powers and Cheshire was sent to come and guide him. Sir John Tenniel (1820-1914) was a celebrated English artist, best known for his illustrations of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. One of the most popular, Disney’s 1951 Cheshire Cat, is a trouble-maker whose hi-jinks in the film get Alice into trouble as well, causing the Cat to sometimes be categorized as a “Disney Villain. After the battle and the Jabberwocky is slain, the Red Queen's knights turn against her, and she is captured, her crown suddenly lifts off her head, floats away, and goes to the White Queen's head, and the Cheshire Cat, who had been holding it and was invisible, appeared, and put the crown on her head, and then disappears.

The language used is often very juvenile and is lower Middle Grade, however, because the book is so heavily centred around death, more sensitive younger children might have issues with it and that pushes the reader's age up slightly. Alice’s conversation with the Cheshire Cat reveals many of her struggles, both internal and external. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. There is much to unpack in Tim Cumming’s quirky Alice the Cat, some of which is positive but other aspects I struggled with. At one point, the cat disappears gradually until nothing is left but its grin, prompting Alice to remark that "she has often seen a cat without a grin but never a grin without a cat".In the video game adaptation of the movie, "Ches" is a playable character who can not only turn himself invisible, but other objects around him as well. One of these peculiar individuals is the Cheshire Cat, who Alice meets during her adventure through Wonderland.
