About this deal

ARK's Z-Vibe® is a vibrating oral motor tool for speech therapy, feeding therapy, and a variety of other applications. Recommended by speech and occupational therapists for 20 years, it's used to provide oral stimulation and tactile cues, to "wake up" the mouth,to decrease oral aversions and normalize oral sensitivities, to decrease drooling, to soothe, calm, focus, and self-organize, to improve oral motor skills, and much more. ARK's Tran-Quill® Pen has a smooth, gentle vibration that provides sensory input to the hand without affecting the actual writing/drawing. The vibration, texture, and weight of the handle can help increase focus and concentration, improve rote muscle memory, normalize writing speed, increase hand strength and dexterity, and decrease the grip force. Perfect for homework, note-taking, and more. A loved one of mine was having a hard time dealing with an oral fixation and this helped immensely! The Original Grabber – The Original Grabber is purple and consists of a “loop” and “stem” that are soft and chewy. Learn how to use a Grabber in this brief instructional video. My goal with this post is to walk you through the basics of some of ARK’s most popular oral motor products and highlight additional resources that will give you some helpful pointers for how to use each of these tools with the children in your life.

Contents– You will receive one Z-Vibe in a handle colour of your choice – please select by using the drop-down box. A Probe Tip, Switch Tip and battery are included.ARK Therapeutic is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative therapy tools and special needs products. Many individuals crave oral sensory input and welcome stimulation from the Z-Vibe®. However, each person has his or her own set of sensory preferences, likes, and dislikes, and so some may be less receptive to vibration than others. Vibration is very alerting, and it may take time to establish trust and acceptance. Start slowly and gradually introduce the device without vibration first. Then, turn it on and show it to the individual, allowing him or her to feel the vibration in the hands or on the arms, slowly working towards acceptance into the mouth. Remember, however, that the Z-Vibe® can always be used in the OFF position without vibration. Even without vibration, the Z-Vibe® can be used for oral motor stimulation and speech/feeding exercises. Texture aversion: Children who have difficulty with feeding can have texture aversions which limit their ability to eat a variety of foods. A Z-vibe can have a variety of textured heads that are interchangeable to provide different sensations and textures that the child will learn to tolerate and over time will assist with helping a child tolerate different food textures. ARK's Tran-Quill® Pencil has a smooth, gentle vibration that provides sensory input to the hand without affecting the actual writing/drawing. The vibration, texture, and weight of the handle can help increase focus and concentration, improve rote muscle memory, normalize writing speed, increase hand strength and dexterity, and decrease grip force. Today I have the exciting opportunity to share with you about oral motor and feeding tools from ARK Therapeutic!

Compatible with a wide range of Z-Vibe Tips (available separately) to support various speech and occupational therapy exercisesBite-n-Chew Tips are round, chewable tips that can be attached to the Z-Vibe to practice — you guessed it — biting and chewing skills. Work on promoting a sustained bite, improving jaw strength and stability, or practicing rhythmic chewing skills with these tips. There are a variety of Bite-n-Chew Tips including three shorter ones (unscented, berry scented, citrus scented) and two extra long ones (smooth, textured). Personally, I like the extra long Bite-n-Chew Tips because they are more versatile than the shorter ones. Bite-n-Chew Tips can also be attached to ARK’s Tran-Quill Pen to provide calming and organizing oral sensory input for kids who are constantly chewing on things, including their pencils…more on that in my next ARK-sponsored post! See a demo of how to use Bite-n-Chew tips in this brief instructional video. XT / Medium Firm - this is the middle level, which we call XT ("Xtra Tough"); It's firmer, but still fairly chewy

The Z-Vibe is available in two different versions: plastic (all of the color options) or metal (aluminum). The plastic optionsare sturdy, affordable, easy-to-clean, and colorfully kid-friendly. The aluminum option has slightly more weight to it, and the metal is cool to the touch. The Z-Vibe is a vibratory oral motor tool that helps build oral tone to improve a variety of speech, feeding and sensory skills. Use it to provide a varied sensory experience and/or to provide targeted tactile cues within the oral cavity. Its gentle vibration provides a new level of sensory stimulation to increase oral focus and draws more attention to the lips, tongue, cheeks, and jaw. The vibrations can also be very calming, soothing, and organizing. When used with the Pen, Pencil, or Crayon Tips, the Z-Vibe becomes the Tran-Quill® Pen/Pencil/Crayon - an excellent tool for sensory motor needs. The vibration increases focus and attention while working on handwriting, homework, and other writing tasks, but does not affect the actual writing.

Most of us are either visual or auditory learners. But when these two senses are not enough, you may need to physically direct the articulators for certain speech and feeding skills. ARK's Z-Vibe® is anideal toolto help you do so. Therapists (and trained caregivers) can use it to provide targeted tactile cues within the oral cavity to teach tongue elevation, tongue lateralization, lip closure, rotary chewing, and much more. For example, use the Z-Vibe® to apply gentle pressure to the alveolar ridge (just behind the upper front teeth). Then remove the Z-Vibe® and instruct the individual to touch the same spot with his/her tongue tip. You can also follow up by prompting the individual to say the tongue tipsounds /t/d/n/l/. Oral defensiveness: If your child experiences oral defensiveness, they will have an aversive response to touch sensations in and around their mouth. Using a Z-vibe provides the mouth with vibrating sensory input and can help decrease the sensitivity over time thus allowing them to tolerate sensations with decreased aversion.Battery included (please note: this is a special Vibe Battery not sold in stores - we recommend buying a spare) I have bought this several times and made the recommendation to my patients and families to use it at home in between therapy sessions. It is great for oral motor use in the therapy room or at home. Spoon Tip - Great for feeding therapy and mealtimes, these attachments turn the Z-Vibe into a vibrating spoon! The smooth, gentle vibration can help "wake up" the mouth and decrease aversions. The textured version has bumps on the bottom of the spoon bowl to help stimulate the tongue and lower lip, and to help encourage the transition from puréed to more solid foods. The hard Spoon Tip is rigid, like a regular spoon. The soft Spoon Tip is flexible (still firm enough to hold food, but flexible enough to be gentle on the teeth if someone bites down on the spoon.
