About this deal

The story's depiction of Gotham and darker, realistic, mature and more grittier tone and direction, compared to other contemporary Batman comics at the time, has also been acclaimed. The story recounts Batman's first year as a crime-fighter as well as exploring the life of recently transferred Gotham police detective Jim Gordon – eventually building towards their first encounter and their eventual alliance against Gotham's criminal underworld. Phantasm was a Batman story with Year One elements, while Batman Begins was a Year One story with added features". Batman: Year One is an American comic book story arc written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli.

Near fine/very good condition, slight over all wear to book and dustjacket, small scratches to front of dustjacket, top edge of dustjacket spine faded.Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever, although set during another timespan, adopts some elements directly from the graphic novel. Now, this is probably because the story is so good and i was left wanting more, so i wouldn't mark it down for that.

In addition to telling the entire dramatic story of Batman's first year fighting crime, this collection includes loads of reproductions of original pencils, script pages, promotional art, unseen Mazzucchelli Batman art and more! He has moral dilemmas, just like Bruce Wayne and it is interesting to see the different ways they deal with their problems. In 1986, Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli produced this groundbreaking reinterpretation of the origin of Batman--who he is and how he came to be.The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Major characters like Commissioner Loeb, Detective Flass and Carmine 'The Roman' Falcone are featured prominently in Batman Begins.

The artwork by Mazzucchelli--from the Milton Caniff school by way of Alex Toth (Zorro) and Doug Wildey (Jonny Quest)--may be the best Batman has ever had.All used books might have various degrees of writing, highliting and wear and tear and possibly be an ex-library with the usual stickers and stamps. Batman: Year One feels, to me, a lot like an old film-noir crime movie from the 50s, as does most of Frank Miller’s work (his Daredevil run, for example).
