About this deal

Panel-maker LG Display (distinct from LG Electronics, which assembles and sells LG-branded TVs) has become the poster child for today’s OLED TVs, as a major supplier to its competitors like Panasonic, Sony, or Philips. Admittedly, the preferred HDR format is only really a concern at the higher end of the price range, but those spending big should think carefully about which services they’re likely to want HDR content on. Can’t make head or tail of all those numbers and letters naming those LG TVs? We don’t blame you – the name structure can be confusing, if necessary for differentiating the huge number of old, new, and incoming sets that LG releases to market. It doesn’t help, either, that each TV maker tends to use different identifiers for their sets. It’s a shame that the UP75 falls down on these key performance criteria because the Filmmaker Mode is very accurate out of the box. The greyscale is excellent, with colour accuracy also impressive at an average DeltaE of 1.5 (the closer the score to 0, the better). That being said, Samsung is dipping its toe into OLED TVs, having launched the Samsung S95B in 2022. Although it's technically what Samsung is calling QD-OLED. Because in this display there's actually a whole new type of OLED technology – one that combines the famous self-emissive properties of OLED with the brightness and color range potential of QLED.

The way a TV brand says a TV works and the way it does day to day doesn't always add up. That's why we're dedicated to testing every TV that we recommend, but there's a lot to consider.

The LG UP75 benefits from the same webOS smart system as the company’s premium models, making this one area where the entry-level status of this TV isn’t reflected in its features. A feature that will be of interest to US viewers is an ATSC 3.0 tuner, which lets the set receive free, over-the-air TV channels broadcast using the next-gen ATSC 3.0 standard. ATSC 3.0 offers support for 4K resolution video with HDR and Dolby Atmos audio among other features, so it's worth investigating when buying a new TV. At present, only LG's G2-series models provide an ATSC 3.0 tuner, though we expect to see it offered in other lines in the future. Which LG TV is right for you? We’ve gone into this debate in more detail in our QLED vs OLED guide. It’ll be enough to say that OLED is generally suited to high-quality video formats in dark viewing environments, while Samsung’s sets lag on contrast (comparatively) but make up for it with a bright and impactful display. We also think it's important to provide wider context, even in a guide like this one that's focused on one specific brand. That's why, where possible, we've included details about models with similar specs from other TV makers. That way you'll be able to make the best decision about which TV is right for you. While you may like the specific feel or features of other OLED ranges – Panasonic has a more grounded color palette, while Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology emits sound from the panel itself – you’re still in a sense buying from LG.

We put all of the best LG TVs in this guide through their paces with a range of content resolutions – including standard definition, 1080p, 4K and sometimes 8K. Playing Call of Duty on the PS5 at 4K/60 with HDR10 proved an enjoyable experience, with responsive gameplay and smooth motion. In brightly lit scenes the effective tone-mapping delivered some pleasingly saturated and punchy images, although the UP75’s inherently poor contrast and screen uniformity were evident in darker sequences. Dolby Vision is really the more advanced format, with 12-bit color gamut instead of the 10-bit HDR10+, and is also more commonly found (both the Google Chromecast with Google TV and Apple TV 4K take advantage of Dolby Vision). If you're looking for the best LG TV, there are several key considerations you need to bear in mind. You may also want to question whether it's definitely an LG TV you want. There's a lot to love about this brand, but it may also be worth your time to take a look at our best Samsung TV and best Sony TV guides as well. Why should you buy an LG TV? Aside from the issues already mentioned, the overall SDR picture performance is generally very good, with images that appear well defined and colours that look natural. There’s some decent upscaling and processing as well, which means the UP75 can make the most of lower resolution content, delivering plenty of detail while keeping the image free of unwanted artefacts. The first is size. We know it's tempting to always assume bigger is better when it comes to technology. However, the size of the screen you should buy needs to be dictated by the space you have, how far away you'll be sitting from the screen and the kinds of content you'll be watching on it. It delivers a fantastic picture thanks to impressive levels of brightness, contrast and definition. That's why we think it's a great LG TV for movie lovers, but gamers will love the four HDMI 2.1 inputs with support for 4K 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, along with FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync.

The real hero here is LG's OLED Evo technology with Brightness Booster Max, which makes this LG's brightest OLED yet – even more than the LG C2. Matched with excellent image processing, Dolby Vision HDR and – yes – four HDMI 2.1 ports, it's very well futureproofed. The LG 65UP75006LF does not provide additional information regarding its features or functionalities. As a result, an in-depth description of its specific capabilities is not possible. Design-wise, it's slim, with a fibre construction that makes it more lightweight than its predecessor. The panel is thin and it comes with an aluminum center-mounted stand, which has a good look and provides solid support for the TV

Ned til den fineste detalje.

The LG UP75 isn’t an ideal TV for next-gen gamers, and anyone wanting to take full advantage of the latest Xbox or PS5 features like 4K at 120Hz or VRR will need to head further up the LG range. However, it does support 4K at 60Hz, HDR10 and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), with the latter automatically switching to the “Game Optimiser” mode when compatible consoles are detected. The LG G3 is priced like a premium flagship TV. Though its price has dropped somewhat since its launch in March 2023, you'll still find alternatives from other brands for considerably less – in our review we offered up the Samsung S95C as a solid rival. Having said that, the picture quality, gaming features and increased brightness compared to normal OLED panels mean you’re getting a lot of TV, even if the price tag is high. In other words, if you can afford it, it's worth it. Here, “C” is for the mid-range “C Series” of televisions, which sees a new model every year, alongside the budget “B Series”, stylish, wallpaper-thin panel “G Series”, and more advanced “Z Series”. LED sets work a bit differently, though. LG’s LEDs are now labelled under “NanoCell”, rather than “Super UHD”, though they’re still the LED panels LG has been making for years. There’s often talk of ‘burn in’ images on OLED screens, but much of this is anecdotal, and you’d probably need to be working the set very hard for this to become a problem. All OLED panels are manufactured by LG Display, so you have LG to thank even if you’ve got a Sony OLED in your home.

It's also worth considering sound. If you're willing to spend extra cash on a soundbar, you don't need to agonise about audio. However, if you'd like an all-in-one cinema system, consider a TV that delivers great audio as well as a fantastic picture. For example, the LG C2 in our guide above also makes it into our list of the best TVs for sound. The slim and simple one-slate design keeps you focused on the screen while blending harmoniously in any room environment. Enjoy cinematic thrills at home. Dolby Vision brings scenes vividly to life for authentic viewing, while Dolby Atmos fills the room with immersive surround sound. In comparison, the best Samsung TV can sure light up a room, offering a higher boost in pixel density than its rivals, take a look at our Samsung QN900B Neo QLED 8K TV review. We also love Samsung's lifestyle sets, like The Frame QLED 4K TV (2022), for combining performance with style. And its mid-range TVs, like the Samsung BU8500, are truly excellent value for money.Unfortunately, the speakers are weedier than in the more expensive models, and while we could hear dialogue okay we found ourselves wanting more oomphfor action scenes in movies and TV shows. The LG UP75 suffers from the kind of HDR limitations that are fairly common with more affordable 4K TVs, especially in terms of peak brightness and gamut coverage. The LG can hit around 300cd/m² on both a 10% window and full-field pattern in Dynamic mode, but in Filmmaker Mode this luminance drops to around 290cd/m² on both a 10% and a full-field pattern. Samsung is currently the market leader, but which TV brand you choose is entirely up to you, your preferences and whether any of the differences we've highlighted above are dealbreakers for you. It's worth bearing in mind, however, that you'll want to compare like for like. A high-end set for Samsung, for example, will always beat a budget set from LG, and vice versa. Importantly, we also live with the TV. By that we mean we don't just watch a few TV shows and call it a day. We test the viewing angles and brightness levels in different rooms at different times of the day. We'll listen to the state-of-the-art sound when we have family chatter to contend with and we'll share our first-hand experiences.
