About this deal

I can’t really tell what is wrong with this book, but, for some reason, I just couldn’t really vibe with it. A cast of unforgettable characters includes a brown bear that is yellow (she’s a blonde), underwater ghosts, and a group of overexcited retired postal trolls. Whisked on board by a troll-boy, Suzy's world is turned upside down when she's asked to deliver a cursed package to a fearsome sorceress. As readers, we run to keep up with every twist and turn and gravity inversion of this strange and brilliant new world.

There, he witnesses fellow inmate Tippy Tinkletrousers (aka Professor Poopypants) escape in a giant Robo-Suit (later reduced to time-traveling trousers). And there is a teachers resource to accompany this book to help with lesson plans and ideas to help explore the story further - download here. It’s not every day that a magical train drives through your hallway but that’s what happens to Suzy at the opening of this terrific adventure story. This rattles along at top-speed and features one of the most varied cast of characters since Hogwarts welcomed young Potter.

The climactic confrontation pits oceangoing mammals, seabirds, fish, and even zooplankton against hardware and technology in a nicely choreographed battle. I was a little confused with how the Impossible Places work and this issue—I think—was overshadowed with conflict after conflict Suzy had to handle. A talking snow globe, Frederick has information Crepuscula could use to take over the entire Union of Impossible Places. I will probably donate this to the public library for a kid to enjoy, and I doubt I will go on with the series. When a poison tide flowing across the ocean threatens their island, Roz works with the resident creatures to ensure that they will have clean water, but the destruction of vegetation and crowding of habitats jeopardize everyone’s survival. The villain sets off after George and Harold, who are in juvie (“not much different from our old school…except that they have library books here. This was cute, but even had I read it at a young age I don’t think it would have been my cup of tea. i really enjoyed suzy and wilmot and the rest of the impossible train crew but i found the plot a bit lacking and over done - the constant lying about what’s going on, the bad witch, a light against dark fight?

The Train to Impossible Places - National Geographic Kids

But when this impossible train comes roaring through Suzy’s living room, her world turns upside down. When Suzy hears a strange rattling noise in the middle of the night, she creeps downstairs to find a train roaring through her house! I liked the idea of a postal train that delivers packages to many fantasy places, but I was expecting something different. The Train To Impossible Places - a magnificent steam engine, driven by another troll, a bear, and pulling a mail carriage and the postmaster behind it - must take a diversion through Suzy’s house.we’ll see how it continues and i hope the author will start to focus more on one plot point instead of too many again. The Impossible Places are wonderful new worlds and I loved everything about this debut - the characters, the ideas and the twists in the tale. i think that this book would have been enough as an adventure story with alle the fun places the train can travel too and have that be the book.

Creeping downstairs, she sees her parents fast asleep on the sofa, and a troll building train tracks through her hallway. I love trains, always have, and any story that takes place (or, at least partly takes place) on a train immediately grabs my attention. This book really stood out for me and I would recommend this book to young and old people to hop along on Suzy’s amazing adventurous journey! Wilmot is also my favorite character, the need to follow his family’s footstep is something I can relate very well. And when it makes an unscheduled stop in Suzy’s living room, the young girl sneaks aboard and finds herself given the job of Deputy Post Master.
