About this deal

Necron Tomb Worlds appear to have no permanent organisation or command structure, nor is the interaction of the various forces altogether clear to the savants of the Imperium. The Necrons' form of warfare could best be described as a continuous process of causality, as each battle and campaign produces preordained responses from the controlling program of the Tomb World.

Only the most powerful and strong-willed of the Necron nobility, referred to as Necron Lords, managed to gain access to necrodermis bodies following biotransference that were sophisticated enough to allow them to maintain their full sentience in the face of the growing dullness of their minds. The energy field that encompasses the Warscythe allows it to cleave through almost anything with ease. Heavy and ungainly, these weapons are only effective in the hands of an untiring Necron combatant. It is well that Obyron is so dedicated, for few lords of Gidrim are eager to fight alongside their Nemesor. Some simply cannot tolerate Zahndrekh's constant stream of reminiscences to battles fought long ago, relevant to the campaign at hand though these recollections always are.

M41 The Fall of Hypnoth – Sautekh Crypteks succeed in introducing a mechanophage into the defence systems of the Forge World Hypnoth, reducing its formidably armed bastions to helpless ferrocrete shells. Despite a valorous defence by the Flesh Tearers and Iron Hands Space Marines, Hypnoth is conquered by the Necrons within days. This evolving structure is made possible by a system similar to that used in the most complex assemblies of the Adeptus Mechanicus, which is known as Nodal Command. Nodal Command organisation allocates a strict hierarchy to all of the elements within it. This system grants greater operational and decision-making capacity to certain "nodes" whilst slaving the rest of the system to these nodes' autonomous command decisions. Even should a world itself remain in the position recorded of it, the stasis-tomb beneath its surface might well be gone, destroyed by tectonic upheaval, meteor strike or other unforseen disaster. Worst of all, however, is for Anrakyr to arrive upon a sleeping Tomb World to discover it infested with lesser life forms. Many Tomb Worlds are now settled planets of the Imperium of Man and their status as a Necron Tomb World remains unknown until the Necrons beneath its surface begin to awaken, much to the detriment of all life on the world. An unknown number of these planets exist across the galaxy in the 41st Millennium.To manifest the psychic power, you must first pass a Psychic test. The opposing player can then select one of their PSYKER units that is within 24" of the PSYKER unit attempting to manifest the power and attempt to deny that power before its effects are resolved by passing a Deny the Witch test. After multiple encounters with the Necrons, it has become obvious to Imperial savants that as a conflict worsens, a Tomb World will temporarily withdraw its existing forces from combat before releasing a new, more potent army led by an extended Nodal Command. You cannot select the same psychic power more than once per battle round, unless that power is Smite. When a Necron Lord strides forth to war, only the strongest and wiliest of opponents have any hope of survival. Their armoured form is impervious to even tank-busting weaponry and features highly sophisticated self-repair protocols, and their robotic body provides them with the physical strength required to crush bones to dust.

Who can say how many far-flung outposts of Humanity have their foundations set upon a planet long ago claimed by an immeasurably older civilisation, its inhabitants blissfully unaware of the slumbering horror at their planet's core. In these days of the Necrons' awakening, no world in the galaxy can truly rest easy...

Amongst the Necron nobles of a Tomb World, political infighting is common and there are always countless schemes playing out, albeit at a glacial pace by the standards of other intelligent species. As a result of their machine natures, all Necrons tend towards calculating behaviour and a pretender will rarely move openly against his opponent if the chance of success is outweighed by the high probability of failure. The miniature is particularly busy but I can see what the design team were going for with this miniature. It shows the Necron Overlord phasing in with plenty of negative space in the mix, achieving that effect. I do really like the way they have designed it but this feels more like a display piece than something for the gaming table. I'm sure that this will be one of those marmite miniatures that some will absolutely love whilst others really don't! Hibernating deep within the hearts of their Tomb Worlds, the Necrons have been dormant for more than 60 million standard years. Scattered Necron raiding parties heralded the undying race's awakening to full activity once more in the late 41st Millennium, but now as their thirsty Star Gods, the C'tan, rise to a hungry wakefulness for life energy, the dreaded Necrontyr have returned to claim the galaxy for their own. The fact that Imotekh suffers from such a personal form of martial hubris stands in stark contrast to the analytical and emotionless detachment he displays when planning and conducting campaigns. It is possible that stasis-induced eccentricity is to blame, but for which trait? Is Imotekh a master strategist whose engrammic damage spurs him to seek personal glory, or a bellicose warrior granted strategic genius through an accident of fate? When the ancient Necrontyr gave up their organic bodies through the process of biotransference at the behest of the C'tan, they transferred their consciousnesses into new machine bodies made of the living metal " necrodermis."
