About this deal

The earlier years of the contest are celebrated on Disc 4 with the classic ‘Congratulations’ by Cliff Richard leading the track-list. LP4 starts with ‘What’s Another Year’ – the first of Johnny Logan’s winners, and Nicole’s victor ‘A Little Peace’… as well as winners from Bobbysocks, Riva, Sandra Kim, Carola, and Corinne Hermès.

Celebrate the legacy with 36 songs across 2LPs – LP1 pressed on translucent red, and LP2 pressed on translucent blue vinyl. Note: it comes in a cardboard gatefold sleeve rather than a jewel case - not my favourite format to be honest, but it's nice and compact for the shelf! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. This unique 3 CD album features 70 of the most memorable songs from the contests history – including enduring fan favourites alongside massive selling winners.

Gina G, Verka Serduchka and Dana International bring the dance-floor classics, whilst Lordi and Måneskin brought Rock to the contest – and won! Established acts that represented the UK in the ’70s include Olivia Newton-John, The Shadows and The New Seekers – all featured.I really like this album as it manages to incapsulate the very essence of what the Eurovision Song Contest is all about. What lets it down a bit - and this is by no means unusual with Eurovision compilations - is the inclusion of many foreign language songs in their English versions.

This is not a bad collection of Eurovision songs at all, although squarely aimed at the UK market - as well as the usual winners, there's a healthy tranche of UK entries in these three discs, from Michael Ball's pure pop 1992 entry "One Step Out Of Time" to largely forgotten recent classics like James Fox' "Hold On To Our Love" and Jessica Garlick's "Come Back" (the UK's highest placed entry in 20 years, of course, until Sam Ryder scored his sensational second place in 2022). However there is one glaring omission Celine Dion "Ne partez pas sans moi" 1988 winner for Switzerland, why? This compilation brings all of the popular (not necessarily my favourite Eurovision songs) together in one collection. A 5-LP box set presented in a rigid slip case, with the 5 individual LP’s, including track by track annotations on the reverse of each cover that include facts about the song, artist, and result at the contest.

and this incredible collection draws to a close with Domenico Modugno’s ‘Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu’, which would become a huge hit, often better known as ‘Volare’, and finishing with ‘Refrain’ from Lys Assia - the first ever winner from 1956. The earlier years of the contest are celebrated on LP5 – with the classic ‘Congratulations’ by Cliff Richard leading the track list. Over on side 2, Måns Zelmerlöw with ‘Heroes’ opens, followed by ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ from Conchita, before two huge hits from 2022; UK runner-up ‘SPACE MAN’ from Sam Ryder, and the huge viral smash ‘SNAP’ from Rosa Linn.Sadly it’s just a cardboard trifold sleeve, no booklet or pictures, the contest has been quite the visual experience over the years, just to see the fashion and hairstyles over the years would have been fun! Disc 2 opens with a run of perfect Pop gems, including Loreen with ‘Euphoria’, ‘Popular’ from Eric Saade, and 2022’s UK runner-up ‘SPACE MAN’ from Sam Ryder. ABBA with ‘Waterloo’ followed by two of the UK’s all-time favourite winners from Bucks Fizz and Brotherhood Of Man.
