About this deal

The Alpha Legion never make it easy for anyone, do they? The One Who is Many is either an assassin par excellence or a lot of assassins par excellence who are pretending to be a single assassin par excellence . Either way, he’s on his way to execute key characters at your command. The One Who is Many is sculpted in resin. Traitor Esoterist Consul Balthasar and Gaspar, another of the Magi, are characters in the 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ and the various film adaptions of the novel, which chronicles his later years. Rob: Look, the only way this ends is either with a guide to Contrast Painting all five Necron Dynasties or with fresh photos of Spider-Man on my desk tomorrow. The Thousand Sons Legion paint scheme during the Horus Heresy era was primarily red and gold. The main color of the armor was a bright, shining red, achieved through a base coat of a metallic like Retributor Armor followed by layers of Mephiston Red and highlights of Wild Rider Red. The trim and other details were painted in a bright metallic gold color such as Balthasar Gold or Retributor Armour. I do this for a darker, richer gold than the Liberator Gold based recipe. There is nothing wrong with turning out Liberator Gold -> Agrax Wash -> Liberator Gold Drybrush -> Auric Gold Drybrush for a very bright gold, but I wanted a deeper gold.

Thin the Umber ink about 1:1 with water (If you use Wyldwood contrast, water will work fine for thinning, contrast medium is not necessary for this technique) and splotch it around somewhat randomly to give the armor a stained/dirty look.Refined: To push this one a bit further I glazed over the gauss bits with a transparent mix of Temple Guard Blue and glazing medium, then glazed white at the edges again and refined some of the electric effect with glazes of white. I wanted a nice dark green here so I dug out the Contrast Ork Flesh and once again I smooshed on some Base Wraithbone on the face plate. Broke out the Tamiya Gold Leaf here but any metallic gold will do. After that I used the Contrast Iyanden Yellow to give it a more reddish hue of gold.

Night Lords. Aka the marines that should probably have a rule called “Actually, they know quite a bit of fear”. Prince of Crows by Aaron Dembski Bowden. Set in the Horus Heresy, fan fave Night Lord Sevatar chews the scenery and generally shows the Night Lords at their worst (i.e their best). Rob: Triach Praetorians don’t belong to Dynasties. They protect the dynasties of various tombworlds so that… Beanith: Look, it’s called ‘artistic licence.’ And to be fair, there is an example of a Sautekh Triach Praetorian in the codex too so QED or whatever the fancy latin term is for “look, there’s a distraction over there!” Use pure Scale 75 Peridot Alchemy as an edge highlight. For reflex highlights, mix in a little bit of Scale 75 Speed Metal or White Alchemy For Indomitus, I decided I wanted to start out with the Skorpekh Destroyers, as they’re an exciting new unit and I thought they’d provide a decent canvas to work on. The Skorpekh Lord is also the unit I’m most excited by on a tactical level, so warming up on the Destroyers seemed like a good plan!Somehow, he survived and from that day on he has only ever been seen swathed in shimmering, metallic robes and wearing a golden face mask. Some say that beneath his mask his skin has turned to pure gold, while others whisper that he is horribly disfigured, though the truth of the matter is known only to Balthasar. One thing is certain; the accident only furthered his will to succeed, and his determination increased his powers to new heights. [1a]

Stipple Reikland Fleshshade on the bottom half of armor panels, and downward facing parts of arms, and along bottom of rib cage. (The stippling can be more of splotching and even slashes.) Hit The stippling can be more of splotching and even slashes the recesses with Reikland, then do an all over smooth wash when it dries, this is more as a filter than shade. Overall, I really enjoyed the opportunity to paint each of the Traitor Legions, and I’ve added a new skill to my hobby arsenal. I’m very keen now to begin another new Legion, and hopefully, with what I’ve learned in the last few weeks I can speed paint an army to readiness and still maintain a great finishing standard. What is known is that Gelt arrived in Marienburg fifteen years ago (circa 2497 IC) aboard a Tilean merchant ship, making a hasty exit from the city when the gold he used to pay for his passage turned to lead a few days later. Though he speaks Reikspiel with the diction and vocabulary of the nobility, his accent betrays hints of something more exotic, though none have been able to place it. As for his prior life, discreet investigations in southern lands have learned little. Those known to have dealt with Balthasar Gelt — almost assuredly not his real name, though no earlier is known — refuse to speak of him. [1a] [4a] There are rumors that sea captain Gelt swindled with the gold has placed a rich bounty on Balthasar's head, though few would dare to attempt to collect it. [1a] Once the models are ready to be painted, the first step is to work out what’s getting a metallic treatment, and which parts of the model are “Canoptek stuff” and get the green stone treatment. Here there are distinct design differences to the last segment of the legs that fit the latter, so that’s where I decided to make the split. My recipe for energy weapons is also a modified version of the same. Vallejo Model Colour Carmine
