About this deal

When using hemming tape, each type has its own application method, each with its steps. Some steps may be similar, like preparing the fabric. Read on to see how to apply it. Iron-on

The fabric tape is much easier to use than most of its kind. Simply place tape on the fabric and apply some heat with the iron.

Interfacing

If you want a no-sew solution for hemming or joining two pieces of fabric, the pressure-pressed hemming tape is probably your best bet. This duct tape is machine washable as well. They are made from highly durable material that isn’t prone to damage. Iron-on hemming tape – This is the most popular type of hemming tape. It has adhesive on both sides, which is activated through heat. When applied correctly it creates a smooth hem and binds it together neatly. The best and easiest way of applying it is to use a regular iron. I have seen many professionals use and recommend this double-sided take to replace stitches on clothes. The duct tape is made for those strapless dresses that tend to slip off when you run too fast. Secondly consider the task at hand. This may mean you use several different types of interfacing in one garment (see the reference table below). Therefore it is a good idea to have a collection of different types of interfacing to choose from and test them out on scraps of fabric until you get the result you want. Fusible or Sew In Interfacing

You also need to keep in mind which type of tape you need for your purpose. If you want to keep your strapless dress stable, then the double-sided tape will do you good. Mistakes can be corrected, and the glue removed, but not quite completely. Although you can partially remove some of the glue, there will still be some residue left. This is why it’s super important to be as careful as possible. The best hemming tape is the one that works better with your fabric type and project. If you’re working with delicate fabrics, the iron-on hemming tape might be a good option since it will hold the hem in place without damaging the fabric.Another consideration is whether you will use woven or non woven interfacing. We have a mixture of woven and non woven interfacing available and again which type you choose is largely down to personal preference. Woven Interfacing An alternative to stay stitching for heavier fabrics or where stay stitching may cause the fabric to stretch or distort. Can be used on curved edges. Can be used to create structure such as break lines on a collar.

The first consideration when choosing an interfacing is the fabric. Interfacing should always be a slightly lighter weight than the fabric you are using, have a similar drape and you should choose the colour that will be least visible with your fabric. If you refer to the reference table below you will see that our dressmaking interfacings are suited to lightweight or lightweight to medium weight fabrics whereas most of the tailoring products are suitable for heavier outerwear fabrics.

Horsehair braid is used to provide structure and create body in garments. Commonly used for hems, hats and sleeves it is a type of netting. The top edge has thread woven through it, which allows you to create a curve when pulled, useful when applying it to circle skirts. It is often used on wedding dresses and formal gowns where a flared hem is required, but looks great on shorter dresses and skirts too - perfect for parties! Clothing label makers are light-weight, portable and super versatile as you can use these to not only label your clothes, but everything else too with different 'tape' options available. Loaded with compatible, iron-on tape, you can use the keyboard on the handheld label maker to type out the name, brand label or wash directions you need to add and choose whichever font or type size you wish! Yes, fabric tape can be removed but it might leave some residue behind, depending on the type of adhesive used. If you need to remove hemming tape from your fabric, start by warming up the tape with your iron, followed by peeling it off gently and then using a lint roller or adhesive remover to get rid of any residue. Does hem tape work on all fabrics?
