About this deal

Nose: Truly glorious. Close your eyes and you're sitting in a comfy worn leather chair surrounded by shelves of ancient leather-bound tombs whilst honey bees flit around the gentle smoke of your delicate cigar. A florid description if ever there was one – allow me to elucidate properly: Immediate warm and waxy honey aromas merge with very woody notes of tanned leather, furniture polish and pencil shavings. There’s slight orange marmalade for sweetness and an underlying sweet and savoury herb note, possibly nettles or even dill leaves. Subtle spicing from very light pepper, cinnamon and musk provide further intrigues. I could nose this for hours – and indeed have.

On the nose the primary note is heather honey (definitely part of their house style, which I learned during the Masterclass); also cinnamon, mango, orange peel, light caramel, strawberries and really firm oak. Rather biscuity. Maltier with water. It's a rich, luscious nose, quite decadent. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service.

Nose: Honey. Heather. Malt. Fruits. Soft apricots. Poached apples. The tiniest of toasted oak. Puff pastry. Sliver of dough. Eucalyptus. Let it breathe and it mellows. Now more floral. Heathery. Oranges. It's a nice enough nose. 22/25 Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. If there is a lot of water vapour, the humidity will be

It has been a long ol' while since That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottled their first batch of Aberfeldy single malt - but that all changes with the launch of their second batch of Aberfeldy! This time it has an age statement (it's 21 years old), but it still features the smiling face of Ian Buxton, striking gold in Aberfeldy's water source, the Pitlie Burn. I was reminded of that golden Summer recently when I had a taste of Aberfeldy 21yo in the very different setting of an airport World of Whisky shop. It was light, floral, spicy and completely charming. It will be greatly admired by those who like that sort of a thing. finish:soothing amount of spice with a dash of smoke and pictures of red sierra mountains off in the distance over the horizon as the sun wishes you a pleasant evening with a wink and smile.

Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Details

The Aberfeldy 21 was one of the first few whiskies I bought early on. Don't really know why other than it seemed fairly affordable for a 21 year old whisky and I believe it was generally rated quite high among critics.

Butterscotch. Vanilla. Red apples. That same toasted oak as on the nose. Chew it a while to get some purple fruits. Decent. 22/25 While its “ Exceptional Cask” releases are bottled at cask strength, the three whiskies we look at today — representing the core of Aberfeldy’s single malt lineup, all formally relaunched a few years ago — are all bottled at 80 proof. All three are aged in a combination of ex-bourbon casks, first fill oloroso sherry casks, and refill casks which are then married together before bottling — though note the additional aging on the 16 year old below. Nose: Raisins and cinnamon at first, before moving on to butterscotch, caramel, and dried apple. A touch of floral malt, too.We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then.
