About this deal

In the 2000s, BBC Radio 4 adapted four of the Hannay books, each starring David Robb: The Thirty-Nine Steps (2001), [4] Greenmantle (2005), [5] Mr Standfast (2008) [6] and The Three Hostages (2009). She insists that Hannay should pretend to be her father, to get her out of the gallery and back home safely.

Before this 1988 TV production, Robert Powell played Hannay in a 1978 remake of Alfred Hitchock's classic 1935 version of the book. Robert Powell is again excellent reprising his role as the all round decent chap `Hannay', with just the right mix of suave charm, liberal intellect and patriotic bravery. The pleasures of travelling on the Trans-European Express from Venice are relished by celebrities, diplomats and holiday-makers alike, but for Richard Hannay the journey proves to be a nightmare.

This series followed on from Robert Powell's stirring performance as Richard Hannay in the 1978 film `The thirty-nine steps" - sadly not included, but essential viewing with this series and probably best viewed first (although this TV spin-off series is set in 1912, before events in 'The thirty-nine steps'). On the death of his friend, Pelham Swinburne, Hannay inherits a walking-stick, field glasses and the lighthouse on a Fenland marsh . Hannay gets involved with a woman and he’s charmed by her, and he meets charismatic hard-driving businessman and gambler Sir Marcus Leonard (Anthony Valentine). The characters we’re supposed to find sympathetic never express a single thought that is at variance with the orthodoxies of late 1980s social attitudes. This Company does not however exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence. The first episode, The Fellowship of the Black Stone, opens with Hannay getting shot in South Africa. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. All 13 episodes from the television drama series, following the exploits of Major Richard Hannay (Robert Powell) - spy, soldier and adventurer - as he helps save the British Empire in the days before the First World War. After nearly thirty years in southern Africa, Richard Hannay has achieved recognition as an officer in military intelligence, a mining engineer and a successful prospector.

One episode, A Point of Honour, was based on a story of the same name by Dornford Yates that appeared in his 1914 book The Brother of Daphne, although Yates was not credited.Fortunately, although the German secret service is very efficient their agents have never been taught to tie a knot properly. This Company will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage in whatever manner, howsoever caused, resulting from your disclosure to third parties of personal information.

Multipart British whodunit about the gentlemanly hero of John Buchan's novel 'The 39 Steps,' a man who finds himself entangled in intrigue on a regular basis. These stories had little in common with John Buchan's novels about the character, although some character names are taken from his other novels. On the ship carrying him back to Britain Hannay encounters the Earl of Haslemere (David Waller) and the earl’s daughter, the Lady Anne. I haven't seen this since it was broadcast, and barely remember it, apart from the opening titles and bits of the first episode. This includes, without limitation, direct loss, loss of business or profits (whether or not the loss of such profits was foreseeable, arose in the normal course of things or you have advised this Company of the possibility of such potential loss), damage caused to your computer, computer software, systems and programs and the data thereon or any other direct or indirect, consequential and incidental damages.Hannay has been portrayed in four film versions of The Thirty Nine Steps respectively, by actors Robert Donat (in the original and most famous film adaptation, directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1935), Kenneth More, Robert Powell and Rupert Penry-Jones (in a 2008 BBC production). Hannay: The Complete Series All 13 episodes from the television drama series, following the exploits of Major Richard Hannay (Robert Powell) - spy, soldier and adventurer - as he helps save the British Empire in the days before the First World War. I am a big fan of The 39 Steps (all four films and the Criterion Theatre production) and I have found Hannay to be a thoroughly enjoyable viewing experience. Hannay is inclined to think it’s all nonsense until he realises that the girl might be telling the truth. If you’re going to put Robert Powell in an adventure series then you expect him to go totally over-the-top.
