About this deal

Hifiman "Supernano" NEO Diaphragm (NSD): The new NsD is 75% thinner than previous models, resulting in quick response and detailed image with lush, full sounds.

The cups have an inverted teardrop/avocado shape where it is wider at the top than the bottom with these huge plush absolutely gorgeous earcups, mine have stayed relatively stiff compared to my Anandas, but given I’ve had the Anandas for 2 years I’m sure these will soften up after more than 6 months. I haven’t had the headphones long enough to comment much, but I find them comfortable and my ears do not get hot when wearing for hours. I have just tried my Sundara’s on again - I can just feel the ear pads touching my ears, whereas the XS has space all around my ears due to the oval shape.

It is important to note that there is no current way to use a BlueMini type device with the Edition Xs’, if you want to make these wireless you’re going to have to pick something like the FiiO BTR3K or BTR5 up to make these wireless. There are as many people who strongly prefer the Sundara's faux leather headband strap design also used on the Ananda as there are people who hate it.

The newly revised headband used on the XS and other more recent HiFiMAN products is a simple all-in-one padded headband with additional limited swivel on the earcups for extra flexibility and comfort. If all that sounds hokey to you, then a balanced input to your headphone will get you an extra 3dB anyway and make it easier to get to a listenable volume so it's worth a punt. There's a thickness, a slight opaque veil, to the Sundara sound that keeps them a bit earthbound and "matter of fact". The perceived larger space on your head allows for more precise imaging as well and locating sound should be no trouble on the XS. Most family/friends are not sure about the look of the headphones - but they all agree on the sound.I've fitted it to the XS, and it's certainly improved the overall comfort, but I haven't had time today for an extensive listen to see if they've helped with the particular issue. The G105 features XLR inputs with the ability to switch the gain control to get another +6dB of gain, or to even gain down, so to maximise the usable volume on the control for your headphones.

Perhaps if I used these as monitors for checking my audio when recording a voiceover, or a podcast they’d be worth it, but currently I’m picking up the DEVAs when I just want to chill and listen to music or watch a show, they’re comfier, the sound profile more closely matches my tastes, plus the BlueMini makes it easier. Unfortunately it seems to be a bit too soft, as the cable tie provided with the cable was wrapped tightly enough to get the cable in the smallish pouch that it's managed to noticably dent the rubber.HiFi Man has designed the XS headphone’s headband to offer maximum comfort, lightweight and ergonomic for hours of listening pleasure. Sound quality is top notch especially when you push the volume up a bit which seems to bring out the best in them! The Sundara never had this issue so this is the only thing that bothers me along with the crap headband as I do feel some pressure on top but it doesn't stop me from wearing them all day long but. The headband has been designed for overall durability so that retains its comfort and structural integrity for years of enjoyment.

I only have an Ifi Zen Dac V2 (along with a few portable DAC's), however the EXS sounds fantastic using the 4. The new NsD is 75% thinner than previous designs, resulting in fast response and detailed image with lush, full range sonics. Despite my having bought them used and them being out of warranty anyway Hifiman offered me a quite generous trade in deal, which I decided not to accept. This driver has an impressively fast response resulting in a highly-detailed sound with lower distortion. The Stealth Magnets extend this idea by preventing the magnets holding the diaphragm in place from interfering with the sound instead. There is a sense that HiFiMAN are making a consistent attempt to respond to feedback and improve their product line, but also a sense that they know you'll replace the cable anyway. Gamers and people listening to binaural audio will likely notice the biggest improvement, and this is the true dealmaker for the XS. Hard outer shell offers perfect protection to your headphones, protecting it from impact, bumps or pressure on the move.
