About this deal

Saya rasa Pak Kepala Sekolah menarik sekali dan ini adalah sekolah terhebat yang pernah saya ikuti." In 1998, Puffin Books released a series of goody bags on certain themes and featured a notepad, pencil, rubber, etc., along with a small book. In the 'Fantasy' goody bag there was a book calling 'Crash Landing & Other Stories' by Gillian Cross. This book contains three short stories about the Demon Headmaster or people similar to him. Siblings Lizzie and Tyler Warren return, with little enthusiasm, to Hazelbrook School. Upon their return, however, the once disreputable school has become an in-demand one. If that was not weird enough, every student now has a special 'skill' they've been developing (such as sports or scientific mastery) and Hazelbrook is a centre of excellence under the watchful eye and strict rules of the 'Headmaster'. Lizzie suspects something is amiss, but then she is framed for defacing the school. This is a really fun and engaging book to read with a class as it uses lots of descriptive language to bring the characters and book to life. Due to the nature of the book, which involves hypnotism and robotic like characteristics, students enjoy reading the text out loud (during shared reading) as they get to act the lines out using their best robot and hypnotic voices. These include the de facto leader and organizer Lloyd Hunter. Who can be a bit arrogant and sometimes jello of anyone stealing his thunder. But is ultimately a capable leader and is not actually as stupid as he first seems.

Interestingly, my son read a library copy while I read our older one, and we discovered several words throughout had been changed, some exclamations softened for a new and obviously more tender generation. Not sure why any such minor changes were made at all really. The school's science fair is coming up, and the Headmaster has invited the students' families to attend. Realising he intends to hypnotise them, Lizzie and Ethan enlist recent genius Sophie to help them counter his powers with sound. Reeves pitched a second series to CBBC, using further elements of Total Control, as well as its sequel, Mortal Danger. [5] Cast [ edit ]

Plot Twist Planning: Challenge the children to think creatively and brainstorm some surprising plot twists for stories, taking inspiration from the unexpected events in mystery stories like The Demon Headmaster. Draw pictures of individual characters as the story is being read aloud. This is a fun way for students to see how writing can be brought to life through words. Reeves has pitched a second series to CBBC, using further elements of Total Control, as well as its sequel, Mortal Danger. [6] A second series has since been confirmed, [7] [8] however ultimately, due to the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic it was cancelled. [9] Audiobooks [ edit ] In the front of the book it says that 'Crash Landing' was first published in Shark And Chips And Other Stories, and that 'Carnival' was published in the Young Telegraph in 1996. The third story is not mentioned. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w List of cast "The Demon Headmaster(1996)". imdb.com. Archived from the original on 13 December 2011 . About Gillian Cross

Wow, that was weird. Okay, so what about the other pupils? Well, Dinah gets no help from them at all. Every time she asks questions about the school, all they say is... "The Headmaster is a marvellous man, and this is the best school I've ever been to." Awards for "The Demon Headmaster" (1996)". imdb.com. Archived from the original on 24 March 2016 . Retrieved 27 September 2011. The story continues with a new group of children, in a new school, without SPLAT's members. The stories centers on Lizzie, her younger brother, their friend Ethan and Angelika. Lizzie and her brother return from the United States, where their mother had surgery. After returning to their school, they realise that the school has a new headmaster and the students are showing exceptional talents, even their bully enemy Blake. However Lizzie suddenly starts to behave aggressive against the school, her brother becomes a robotics genius and their recent made friend Ethan becomes a soccer star. But when they try to talk, or even think about those sudden changes, their minds goes blank. Ethan eventually discover that the Headmaster is hypnotising and controlling everybody in the school. They team up with Angelika (a girl who suddenly became a coffee business enthusiast) and even Blake (who became a Multilingual greeter) and discovers the great plot of The Headmaster to show to the Prime Minister the great results of the school, thus allowing The Headmaster to administer other schools. A direct sequel of the original series began airing on CBBC from 14 October 2019, with Nicholas Gleaves playing the titular character. [1] It was confirmed on BBC Breakfast that this series was a continuation of the original. Take the children, they're super tidy, they have perfectly combed hair, and smooth ties. They don't laugh, or play games, or shout. In fact they don't do anything. They just work, all the time. And they march around the school in lines, like robots.

She opened her mouth to say that she was not tired, but to her surprise, she yawned instead. 'So tired.' crooned the Headmaster. His huge, extraordinary eyes fixed on her face. The series proved popular with children and ran for three series from 2 January 1996 to 22 January 1998. The first series contained six episodes, and aired twice weekly from 2 to 18 January 1996, the second series contained seven episodes, and aired once a week from 25 September to 6 November 1996, and the third series contained six episodes, and aired twice weekly from 6 to 22 January 1998.

Well, because it's just about the weirdest school you can imagine. And if you don't believe me, ask Dinah. She's the star of the story, and she discovers, on the first day of her new school just how strange it really is. I loved reading this again, I always identified with Dinah Glass, and still feel she's a well-written understated heroine, though Lloyd and his ridiculous sayings made me laugh. My son had eyes as big as saucers at any scene the Head appeared in, and seemed genuinely worried they were all in danger. As a parent, there's a scene involving snow that had me rather tense too! And another that publishers might not print these days that became a little like Lord of the Flies. Dinah Glass moves in with Lloyd and Harvey Hunter and at first, does not like them. Soon she discovers that at her new school, the Headmaster is very strange and she finds herself saying things like, "I think the Headmaster is a marvellous man and this is the best school I've ever been to". With the help of her new friends, SPLAT, (Society for the Protection of our Lives Against Them, the children at the school who are immune to the Demon Headmaster's hypnotic powers), she successfully stops the Headmaster's plot to hypnotise the country through the Eddy Hair Television Show and she gets adopted by the Hunters. This became the first three episodes of the first series of the television adaptation.
