About this deal

Add the butter, eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat together using an electric hand mixer or your stand mixer, using a spatula to scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl as needed. Mix until the batter is smooth, about a minute. Please find the maximum sizes for baking tins or moulds that can be used in your Airfryer below (also see overview picture): My air fryer comes with a bake setting which is set to 150°C (300°F) for 30 minutes. I think that would be sufficient for a smaller cake but for this recipe you will need to cook for longer. STEP 4: Place the prepareed cake pan into the air fryer basket. Pour the cake batter into the pan and level. Bake for 30 minutes at 160°C (320°F). Lower the temperature to 150°C (300°F) and continue to cook for a further 10 minutes. Bake for 30 minutes (use the dessert or cake setting if there is one). Then reduce the temperature to 150C and bake for a further 5–6 minutes, or until cooked through. (These timings work for a 20cm/8in cake tin – if using a smaller tin, you may need to adjust the timings. Start with 5 minutes more baking time and then test to see if it is done. See Recipe Tip.)

You can soften butter by blasting in the microwave on the DEFROST setting for a few seconds. If your eggs are cold, submerge them in warm water for a few minutes.

STEP 3: Add the butter, eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat together using an electric hand mixer or your stand mixer, using a spatula to scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl as needed. Mix until the batter is smooth, about a minute. This cake is best served on the day it is made, but it can also be tightly covered with cling film and frozen for up to 1 month. Defrost completely before serving. I found the formula is pretty simple, follow your usual cake recipe and then air fry in a preheated air fryer for 30 minutes at 150C. That seemed simple enough. Replace 50g/1¾oz flour with 50g/1¾oz ground almonds for a delicious nutty twist, replace the sliced apples with sliced plums, or add 50g/1¾oz chopped pistachios to the cake base. As you may know, foil pans are often used to cook frozen goods in an oven. These come under a few different names, but the principle thing you want to look out for is the word “convection”. The hot air circulating around this foil pan will cook your food in less time than an oven can do.Never place the baking dish directly in the pan, as this eliminates the airflow in the pan and only the top of the food will be heated. I’m sure you’ve seen lots of recipes online that say you can use baking tins in your air fryer. If you’re the kind of person who likes to follow those recipes then yes, your baking tins can be used in an air fryer. This is mostly true, but there are a few things to keep in mind. The following Philips Baking Master Kits are available for your Airfryer (also see overview picture): What's On I made a perfect Victoria Sandwich cake in my air fryer and I think I deserve a Hollywood handshake You can use any ovenproof dish or mould in the Philips Airfryer, whether it is made of glass, ceramic, metal or silicone. You can also use silicone or paper cupcake cups or moulds to bake cupcakes, muffins or small gratins.
