About this deal

Actually let me just stop there for a second so we can appreciate that admirable sentence. Doing a lot of work, isn’t it! Direct but efficient. Ballard goes on: The nightlife. It’s world-renowned. The bars and clubs in the Carré d’Or play host to some of the hottest DJs and live acts every year.Keep the party going after hours at your luxury villa. Lured by tax concessions and a climate like northern California’s, dozens of multinational companies had moved into the business park that now employed over ten thousand people. The senior managements were the most highly paid professional caste in Europe, a new elite of administrators, énarques and scientific entrepreneurs. The lavish brochure enthused over a vision of glass and titanium straight from the drawing boards of Richard Neutra and Frank Gehry, but softened by landscaped parks and artificial lakes, a humane version of Corbusier’s radiant city. Even my sceptical eye was prepared to blink. Cronenberg added: “ Super-Canneswas an incredibly prescient novel that is more relevant now than ever — a heady blend of cutting politics and deviant psychology, built around a deeply satisfying detective story. I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to adapt it, and to be working on the series with Anti-Worlds and Ringside.” Super-Cannes’ was an incredibly prescient novel that is more relevant now than ever — a heady blend of cutting politics and deviant psychology, built around a deeply satisfying detective story,” Cronenberg said. “I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to adapt it, and to be working on the series with Anti-Worlds and Ringside.”

If there is any better writer in Britain in the early years of the new millennium, I have yet to discover him/her. This novel shows why. It probably wasn’t a huge stretch for Ballard but, in it, not only does he tell a good story but he effectively psychoanalyzes the entire twentieth-first century and exposes our psychoses and how they are going to change us and the world over the coming years. In his novel Concrete Island (1973), Ballard’s protagonist, Maitland, recalls a visit to La Grande-Motte, a futuristic resort complex on the southern French coast, built in the 1960s and 1970s, where he takes a traveling companion. Ballard notes La Grande-Motte’s “hard, affectless architecture with its stylized concrete surfaces,” the hotels and apartment buildings like ziggurats, and the vast, empty parking lots, “like a city abandoned in advance of itself.” The setting was still in his thoughts in 1984 — surely he must have been there? — when he composed a remarkable prose poem, a “surrealist’s catalogue,” as Interzone styled it, titled “ What I Believe.”“I believe in Tokyo, Benidorm, La Grande Motte, Wake Island, Eniwetok, Dealey Plaza,” runs one of its many subtly unnerving lines. People find all the togetherness they need in the airport boarding lounge and the department-store lift. They pay lip service to community values but prefer to be alone. He finds what he sees mystifying and unsettling; when he learns that he and his wife have been housed in a villa whose previous occupant had been driven to massacre notable executives on a horrific shooting spree, he begins to look under the surface. For all the dawn-to-dusk hard work, for all its productivity and profits, Eden-Olympia is the venue for games of the most serious sort. So Paul joins in...Years of bourgeois conditioning had produced a Europe suffocating in work, commerce and conformity. Its people needed to break out, to invent the hatreds that could liberate them, and they found an Austrian misfit only too happy to do the job...A controlled psychopathy is a way of resocialising people and tribalising them into mutually supportive groups."

The first office buildings in the Eden-Olympia complex were emerging from the slopes of a long valley filled with eucalyptus trees and umbrella pines. Beyond them were the rooftops of Cannes and the Iles de Lérins, a glimpse of the Mediterranean that never failed to lift my heart.

Superb Provencal Palace in the prestigious Super Cannes

Rather than overheat either Jane's imagination or the Jaguar's elderly engine, I decided to avoid the Autoroute du Soleil and take the RN7. We bypassed Paris on the Périphérique, and spent our first evening at a venerable hotel in the forest near Fontainebleau, spelling out the attractions of Eden-Olympia to each other and trying not to notice the antique hunting rifle on the dining-room mantelpiece. Sorry, Paul. I know, we want them to like me. Open your window.' She grimaced at herself in the rear-view mirror. 'That cheap perfume. I smell like a tart...' The real estate opportunities. Cannes and the surrounding area has some of the most desirable properties on the French Riviera. The investigating magistrate, Judge Michel Terneau, led the inquiry, reconstructing the murders and taking evidence from a host of witnesses, but came up with no convincing explanation. Greenwood’s colleagues at the clinic testified to his earnest and intense disposition. An editorial in Le Monde speculated that the contrast between the worldly power of Eden-Olympia and the deprived lives of the Arab immigrants in Cannes La Bocca had driven Greenwood into a frenzy of frustration, a blind rage at inequalities between the first and third worlds. The murders were part political manifesto, so the newspaper believed, and part existential scream.

The first office buildings in the Eden-Olympia complex were emerging from the slopes of a long valley filled with eucalyptus trees and umbrella pines. Beyond them were the rooftops of Cannes and the Îles de Lérins, a glimpse of the Mediterranean that never failed to lift my heart. Set across three floors, the accommodation of approximately 475 sq m features spacious reception rooms, ample bedrooms and guest accommodation plus numerous additional features which create an inviting and modern Riviera home. Penrose believes that sado-masochistic sex, violence, paedophilia, kiddie porn, drugs and fascist ideas are all conducive to mental health:I pressed her hand against the wheel, steering the Jaguar around an elderly woman cyclist, panniers filled with baguettes. The narrator is unlikable, partly because he's gross and married someone way younger (not a deal-breaker in itself, but that coupled with his dismissive disdain for women in general makes him one of "those guys") and partly because he gets off on the violence he sees or has described to him. He's supposed to be the detective figuring out the secrets, but he's entirely too sympathetic to the villains' point of view. There's no tension there. The set-up there makes him act in inexplicable ways. When I finished it, I re-read my review of "Cocaine Nights" and was surprised at how much of it could be applied equally to this work, with only minimal adjustment. It wasn’t very Ballardian of me, but I arrived in Sophia Antipolis on the local bus. It should have been a Jaguar with a heavy steering wheel, perhaps, like the one Sinclair drives in the book. I got out at Garbejaire, the residential village at the heart of the park. I could already see what the problem was going to be because “park” is the right word. Sophia Antipolis is huge, covering 2,300 hectares, and I was trying to explore it on foot. Sinclair is a grounded pilot after a crash that left his knee damaged. The most sinister person is the first man the couple meet, Wilder Penrose the psychiatrist. He builds up the mystery and strange atmosphere. Sinclair without a job , becomes obsessed with the murder and begins investigating it. Eventually, Charles takes on Frank's roles and responsibilities in the community. Paul (who is "too dull and normal for Eden-Olympia") finds out enough about the internal operations of the business park to identify with and want to finish the personal crusade started by David. The prestigious villas offered by our real estate agencies Michaël Zingraf Real Estate are equipped with modern and efficient amenities to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of the buyers. Infinity pool, jacuzzi, spa, cinema room, wine cellar... all these services enhance these exceptional properties. An investment with many prospects Neal said: “We’re delighted to be involved with Brandon and Andy in adapting such an iconic piece of work. The source material is so rich and the characters so vivid that we are confident it will be an appealing project for both talent and buyers.”

Palladian villa in a private domain in Valbonne with sea views.

So far a typical Ballard setup except in this case the people don’t stay within Eden-Olympia. It appears the calm life makes them too sane and Penrose prescribes “a carefully metered measure of psychopathy”! “In a totally sane society, madness is the only freedom” and “more violence and cruelty, and more drama and rage” was needed in their lives. It’s a dark vision that you only have to scratch the surface and underneath is an underbelly of vice. It’s also a dark view of the ultra capitalists , racist, violent, sexually perverse with little regard for ordinary people’s lives. Pool: Lazy days around the pool with the family are the perfect way to spend the summer. So why not browse our extensive range of properties in Cannes with outdoor swimming pools, there’s no nicer way to soak up the sun. It seems that living in a perfect, calm , hard working society is a disaster for the health of the “elite” types. What Sinclair uncovers is a therapy developed by Penrose to allow all the elite types to find their dark sides which involves heading to the local towns for violence, sex and other crimes apparently curing all their ailments.
