Shadow detail (that’s detail in the darkest parts of an image) is not the U8Q’s strongest suit. A whirl through The Dark Knight Rises and the TV can’t lift all the detail from the Batman suit. Raise the brightness and there’s more to be found, but there’s not much room to play with. A point up is all that’s needed, but anything more and scenes look washed out. If you're on a tighter budget, the Hisense U6/U6Koffers great value compared to similarly-priced models from other brands. Unlike the Hisense U7K and Hisense U8/U8K, you aren't getting the same high-end features and performance, but it's still quite decent. It uses the same quantum dot technology, which means it displays a wide range of colors and has remarkable pre-calibration accuracy, so you won't have to get it calibrated to get accurate colors.

It's alsoan excellent TV forgaming due to its very goodmotion handling, so there's very little blur behind fast-moving objects. It has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two of its HDMI ports, meaning it can take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles and even high-end PCs with up to 4k @ 144Hz support. Finally, it has low input lag and supports every variable refresh rate (VRR)technology, ensuring a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience. All forms of HDR are supported in HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Hisense says the panel can achieve a peak brightness of 1000 nits, but I’d imagine it’s less than that figure. Nevertheless, there’s a brightness and punchiness to 4K HDR sources that gives a good impression of what HDR can do. The U8H’s coverage of DCI-P3, the color gamut used for mastering movies for digital cinema and 4K Blu-ray disc, was 97% when measured using Portrait Displays’ Calman color calibration software. And while we’ve logged higher coverage on sets like Sony’s A80K OLED, the Hisense’s performance here is impressive for budget TV. The TV is also quite responsive. Using an HDFury Diva HDMI matrix, we measured an input lag of 8.1ms in Game mode. That falls under the 10ms threshold we use to determine if a TV is among the best for gaming. Predictably, with Game mode off, that input lag jumps to 86.5ms. I cannot see why the decision to change the UK U8H so drastically from the US specs was justifiableHisense's U8H has a Filmmaker mode that provides mostly accurate pictures straight out of the box. Impressively, this TV has very good image processing, which is welcome for Hisense as that used to be a feature reserved for name brands such as LG and Sony. This makes it a cheaper home entertainment alternative to very expensive models from the two aforementioned brands, especially as it supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, as well as DTS advanced audio formats. Unfortunately, its viewing angle is disappointing, so it's not very well suited for a wide seating arrangement.WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU, WHETHER IN CONTRACT OR TORT OR OTHERWISE, FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR DAMAGES, LOSS OF PROFIT, REVENUE, INTEREST, BUSINESS OR CORRUPTION OF DATA, ATTORNEY FEES, EXPENSES, OR ANY OTHER LOSS OR DAMAGES, INCLUDING PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH, ANY SMART SERVICES CONTAINED IN, OR AS A RESULT OF THE USE, OF THE DEVICE, OR ANY SMART SERVICES ACCESSED OR USED BY YOU, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGES. While Hisense doesn’t specifically pitch the U8H as a gaming TV, its 4K/120Hz, VRR, and ALLM support, along with FreeSync Premium Pro, make it one of the better set options for gaming, particularly in its price class. Aside from a Game picture mode, there’s not much in the way of related menu adjustments, though there is an HDR picture mode for gaming. The U8QF has a JBL Audio sound system based on stereo speakers and 20W of amplification. It also supports Dolby Atmos, with internal decoding built-in and an immersive experience created through the application of psychoacoustic processing.

As of 2021, Hisense introduced gaming features like HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and variable refresh rate support to some higher-end TVs. Now, their higher-end TVs support up to 4k @ 144Hz, and even their cheaper models have advanced gaming features, such as VRR. The viewing angles of the U8QF are not great but are as expected from this type of LCD TV and when watching from the dead centre the image quality is good. We found that over 20 degrees off-axis iswhere the main gamma and colour shifts start to become very noticeable, so bear that in mind if your viewing room has seats that are off to the sides. The remote is a slim effort but too compact for my liking. Buttons are smushed close together and if you have sizeable digits such as myself, you’ll jab at the wrong button with regularity. It’s also not the most responsive, which doesn’t help. Netflix, Prime Video, Rakuten TV, YouTube and Freeview Play have dedicated buttons, so you can hotfoot to the service you fancy. Hisense U8Q features — Covers the basics for picture and gaming HD is a step up in all regards. Colours are better defined and there’s more fine detail for a pleasing picture. There’s a bit of noise around faces, noticeably with wrinkles, and while it’s not the sharpest, it is a satisfactory looking image. Incredible entertainment and visual excellence are always at your fingertips with the Hisense 55U8HQTUK Smart TV. Whatever you want to watch, its stylish design and range of astounding features make every moment even more thrilling. Mini LED ULED Screen
