About this deal

Being as this camera is small and light it makes a great secondary camera or as a dedicated travel camera. The Z50 looks a lot like a slightly scaled-down Z6 or Z7, with a prominent viewfinder hump protruding from the middle of the camera and a fairly substantial handgrip extending forward from the body, without it ever looking like it's masquerading as a DSLR.

This also totes an APS-C sensor, excellent viewfinder and plenty of dials and buttons, and it’s hard to choose between the two. Amy is currently the Features Editor at Amateur Photographer magazine, and in her increasingly little spare time works across a number of high-profile publications including Wired, Stuff, Digital Camera World, Expert Reviews, and just a little off-tangent, PetsRadar. I paid less for this camera (with the FTZ adapter) than I would have for an upgraded smartphone and the picture quality is excellent.Fast Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connections let you send photos and movies to any device for storage or sharing. but if we just take the kit lenses as an example, Nikon has already produced kit lenses that are far, far better than the competition. While having the same Z mount as its full-frame siblings means the Z50 is compatible with a useful array of lenses, it can’t yet compete with the range and variety available elsewhere. This means a menu system beginning to creak under the weight of its many, many options, but with one of the best-arranged Custom Settings menus in the business.

The former we didn’t miss too much, but a joystick for changing the AF point would have come in really handy. In this comparison we’ll discover the key differences between the two cameras to help you decide whether you should splash the cash or save the pennies. For the Pentaxian a camera without IBIS would be like a car without power steering, we are just so used to having it. Interestingly, the lack of accessory port also means the Z50 can't be used with Nikon's newer 'WR-10' radio frequency flash system, either. As for how you photograph: I used to have still hands so VR and ISO were important, not so much so now as I use a tripod over 90 percent of the time at base ISO most of the time.
