Unit 16: Working cooperatively with key person, colleagues, parents/care and other professionals within early years settings The test will be computer-based and will consist of 35 questions, comprising closed-response questions (i.e., multiple-choice questions). The apprentice must answer correctly a minimum of 23 questions to achieve a Pass. Of the 23 questions answered correctly, these must include all five questions relating to Safeguarding (K15). Apprentices will have a maximum of 60 minutes to complete the test; this is pre-set within the testing platform.It has replaced the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care Pathway) as the required qualification for those working in children’s homes. All new starts must be registered on the new Residential Childcare qualification from April 2015. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement in a residential childcare setting, as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as nursery nurses and childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
