All our palm oil suppliers also have policies which covers No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation of Labour, and these have been in place for several years before this became the new RSPO standard in late 2019. Consequently, this means that the palm oil we use only comes from certified sustainable sources, which avoid damaging the tropical rainforests and biodiversity of Southeast Asia. Replacing palm oil with other types of vegetable oil would require much larger amounts of land to grow, since palm trees produce 4-10 times more oil than other crops per unit of cultivated land. This would result in serious environmental damage, with the risk that more forests would need to be converted into agricultural land. Mr. Kipling produced a range of cakes which include nuts are part of their ingredients. We include a ‘May Contain Nuts’ statement on our wider range of Mr. Kipling Cakes as we cannot guarantee the absence of nuts owing to our product range and manufacturing methods.
