But the seller still responded, and I am certain they would've helped me had the package never showed.In some ways, this reads as a coming-of-age novel but also has huge elements of some of my all-time favourite horror movies. There is a lot for dark fiction fans to like in this one, and Durgin does a great job of creating this setting and using it to his advantage by making things go dark and darker when needed, but also infusing some hope and light moments to lessen the oncoming deluge. This was a coming-of-age, small-town horror blast, one that I think a lot of people will really enjoy.

What they don’t know is that they are about to release an evil on the town unlike anything in their home-made movies. It felt like the climactic moment in movies when all of the good guys battle all of the bad guys and we see who truly makes it to the very end. Some of the character building on characters who were about to push up daisies was done in the same way and that was kind of odd too. Durgin arrives with his debut novel ‘The Cursed Among Us, and I think this one will make a splash with the dark fiction readers out there. This is my fourth audiobook by the performer and they just can't take me to the place I need to go with this type of novel.

As far as characterization goes, it was interesting to see the group of friends be jealous of different aspects of each other’s lives. He also has terrible dreams of killing his friends, then he wakes to hear scratching on his wall, with the voice urging him to join her - it is definitely a female voice, after all - and to stop resisting. We rarely see her and her entire purpose is to be Cory’s prize if he survives accidentally rereleasing a demon on the town.

What I liked: The story takes place in a very small town, twenty years after a horrendous murder rocked the peaceful place. Plenty of emotion is filled within the pages, each main character has good back story about their home life which adds substance to them.Go to the location of your Among Us folder and copy the folder to an easily accessible location (such as the documents folder). Chances are if you play Among Us and are active on social media, you've seen the image in question already. Durgin does a great job of creating a band of kids you want to root for, even when they fight and bicker, you want to see them patch things up.

Howie and Ryan were the most sympathetic of the group due to home life backstory and feelings of not belonging, even amongst friends. Down below, he could see jagged ends of trees sticking out of the ground after their top half had fallen beneath years of New England weather taking its toll. It lagged for me slightly in the middle with repetitive gore, however, I still found myself rooting for the group of friends and hoping they'd figure their way out of the horror they found themselves in. One night, Howie and his friends venture deep into the woods to film and stumble upon the grave of someone.The whole coven aspect of the story ended up being one giant plot hole leaving me with a bunch of questions and no answers. The repetitive nature behind certain sections remains a bit of a sore spot(repeating the how/who of someone passing away just a few chapters earlier). It won't be long before they realize they have set free an evil, once again, on a town that is still recovering from the wounds of a serial killer. At first, I wasn't sure how violent or gory this book was going to get, but it got there and didn't let up.
