About this deal

What happens is a sprawling love story between two men who are both longing for more from their lives, but there are endless obstacles. One Night in Hartswood" is a beautifully crafted debut that captures the essence of historical romance while offering a fresh and engaging narrative. I also adored Ash, Lily, and Jo so much and would love more stories in this universe from their perspective!

I loved Penn, he’s the most unlikely of heroes and the best of heroes – a man who has no idea that he is a hero. What I am happy about is definitely that a mainstream romance publisher is making a choice in favour of a soft gay historical to break up the line up of safer titles. Please don’t come into this book expecting an immersion into history, the events firmly take place in the same Romancelandia where there is a rakish duke to reform for every sarcastic debutante, and I say that with longstanding fondness for the genre. The actual romance between Raff and Penn is really well built, the two have incredible chemistry, and their time in the forests going around the country was my absolute favourite. See, this is all finicky of me, except that it would have been so easy for Denny to give Penn some keepsake of his mother that didn't depend on familiarity with the publication history of the Arthurian legends. What made this story so enjoyable was the alternating POV, I loved getting the inner thoughts of both men. An enthralling and heartwarming tale of forbidden love that captured my heart from its opening page. The lingering stares and accidental touches all added to the sexual tension, that was shining off the pages, and when that inevitable chemistry boils over it certainly knocks the temperature up a few degrees. The short version: Back in 2020 I fell in love with the witcher show on netflix - or more precisely with the incredible fanwork for it. Supported by a digital first marketing campaign, with a focus on online book communities on platforms including TikTok and Instagram, One Night in Hartswood is perfect for fans of Stephanie Garber and Freya Marske.

at the fact that Raff and Penn keep traveling even in heavy snow (on, what, the excellent roads in 14th-century England? b>Overall, I highly recommend this if you are looking for a warm, mood read with hurt/comfort that leaves you with a cozy feeling when you finish. I’m no expert on the Middle Ages, and if sexuality and gender were actually more fluid back then, I’m all for seeing it in this book, I just wish there was more clarity. and at Penn's father's mysterious passivity once Penn busts Raff out of the cell where Penn's father is keeping him, and at -- oh, this is a really good one -- the infected crossbow wound to Raff's shoulder which he somehow survives.Unaware their fates are already entwined, their unexpected bond deepens into a far more precious relationship, one that will test all that they hold dear. With the medieval English setting and a little touch of political intrigue, the story was fast paced and kept me guessing until the last moment. Considering the views of the time, their love story would not have been one easily accepted by those around them, and so I would have liked to have seen this developed more.
