Sad. Why are we so? People talk a lot about tolerance these days. However, somewhere, I heard someone say... AH! It was on "TED Talks" that we ought to think on acceptance and love and not tolerance. Tolerance means to tolerate someone, or something. Lord, I hope that I can do better than that. I hope that we can all do better than that. He was eloquent and articulate - obviously well-educated. And sophisticated, too. He was also a slave who escaped to freedom. Smith, Stuart Tyson (1 January 2018). "Gift of the Nile? I think that Chancellor Williams has a lot to say here, that also could have justified its own book. In other words, there can be no real identity with our heritage until we know what our heritage really is. It is all hidden in our history, but we are ignorant of that history. We have been floating alone, basking blissfully in the sunny heritage of other peoples!” Two categories of objection were made to the ideas propounded by Professor Diop. These objections revealed the extent of a disagreement which remained profound even though it was not voiced explicitly. Most of the objections raised were of a methodological nature. Although he hoped that the notion of race would be abandoned and that reference would be made rather to the 'people' of ancient Egypt, Professor Vercoutter agreed that no attempt should be made to estimate percentages, which meant nothing, as it was impossible to establish them without reliable statistical data. He hoped that, before final conclusions were drawn, a series of research projects would be carried out to study the human remains in museums throughout the world and those found in recent excavations." It was very hard to listen to this overly eager white man read this book like he was giving an unpracticed book report. Really distracts from the hugely important and historic substance of this book. Poorly edited would also be a compliment. way through. I like this. I find myself doubting a lot, and hating myself and my white education for doubting. It makes me angry that we just destroyed something so wonderful. Why do we always destroy what we envy, or do not understand. When I was a child, I used to say to my mom, "The boys at school call me a sissy and are mean to me." She always said, "Ignore them, they're jealous." Williams died of respiratory failure on December 7, 1992, aged 98, at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC. He had been a resident of the Washington Center for Aging Services for several years.
