We played Goat Lords with 5 players, a couple of them were closer to the lower suggested age. Because of the similarity to another game everyone had played (Cover Your Assets) we were able to start playing without having to go through the rules. Because of that I had to ask how it went when they first learned the rules. They told me they were all able to understand the game because the mechanics are straight forward and similar to an old playing card favorite Steal the Pile.
If you can’t add to your herd in either by either of these means, you discard a card and draw another. Welcome goats to the herd by taking two identical cards (or one wild) from your hand and placing them in front of you. The first pair played can never be stolen from you. Only two to three days of the movie were filmed in Salem with the majority of the rest being shot in Los Angeles. He who has the most goats is the Goat Lord. In Goat Lords it is all about building the biggest herd of goats. You can add to your herd by giving birth to new goats or taking goats from another player’s herd. All that counts is when no more plays can be made, whoever has the most goats is the Goat Lord. It’s one thing to pile up 25 naked ladies, but trying to get them all to remain still is not easy.”If none of the above can be done, player discards one card and draws a new card from the Draw Pile. Rob Zombie’s latest film is a bit of a surprise. It’s horror, but it’s a completely different beast from his previous movies. There’s a real (and mostly intentional) sense of humor about it, too. Anyhow, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and their own review but I don’t think accusations of stealing are the way to deal with that opinion. But the game and decide for yourself. And if you’ve never played Cover Your Assets, get that one too and decide for yourself. You may not go through your opponents herd to find the best Goat Pile; you must call it out without counting the cards. Upon receiving the Goat Pile, you must divide the spoils evenly between you and the other competitors in this manner below. **You may NOT play Goatinhood after the Draw Pile is empty. Dee Wallace truly enjoyed playing her character once she reveals her true, evil self. “She was always complaining that she hates playing nice moms.” There are two ways to play Goat Lords: The Simple Version and the Strategic Version. Strategic is the reverse side of these rules. If the discard pile contains 5 or more goat cards at the time the Draw Pile becomes empty, then shuffle the remaining discard pile and continue drawing from it as the Draw Pile.Shuffle the cards and deal. Each player starts with 5 cards. There is a Draw Pile, Discard Pile, and Trash Pile. The Draw Pile are the cards that haven’t been seen yet. The Discard Pile starts with 1 card turned over from the Draw Pile. And, the Trash Pile is for the Action Cards that have been used and are removed until the next game. Zombie spends the entirety of his wife’s (Sheri Moon Zombie) introductory nude scene talking about the dog, Steve, whose real name is Troy. Every time you win a duel or play a successful action card, your goatherd value goes up, making you more likely to win, but also a target for your fellow Goaters. If players cannot complete any of the above-mentioned actions, then they may discard a card and draw a new card. At then end of the turn, players will refresh their hand from the Draw Pile, ensuring that they have the same number of cards that they initially started with. Gameplay continues until a player reaches one thousand points or until the group decides it is over. At this point, the player with the most points wins the game! It is not that easy though as other players can steal or eliminate your herds through either duels or the use of action cards (which have truly zany effects). The scene where they first try to play the record took a while to film as they struggled with how to create the effect of the needle jumping across the LP. As the effects guys worked on a line of filament another crew member suggested simply removing the needle from the arm. The fake blood used during the birthing scene smelled “rancid” and nearly caused Moon Zombie to vomit. Clarity: (NO GO) Some of the cards are not clear in effect. For example, if someone uses an action (not the dread raining fire-goats card), but say the Russian Goatlette, if someone plays Escape Goat, does that just apply to him/her, or does it stop the action? If part of an action is stopped, do other aspects continue, for example, the +2 play? Etc. Etc. Etc. I only took off one star for this (when normally it would be at least two stars off) because this is clearly supposed to be a silly game. You should go into knowing that you will have to develop some table rules as you play. Better, play a couple of hands with another, like-minded gamer and develop the table rules in advance so that you can share with your other players as you explain the game.The pile may contain a mix of wilds and goat cards. When splitting there must be at least one pair of cards for each split, including wilds or goat cards; also at least one goat card must be included on top of each split. You may only play the card at the beginning of the duel or before the action card takes effect, in other words you may not "escape" in the middle of a turn.
Are you willing to battle with your friends, hurt feelings, and play aggressively to become the Lord of the Goats? If so, then this is the game for you! The goal of the game is to get one thousand points before any other player. Do this by building your herd!

When the draw pile has been emptied, gameplay will continue around the group until their hands are empty. If the Discard Pile has more than five goat cards, then it may be shuffled and used as the new Draw Pile. When you play this, you draw two more cards and you get plus one action. Which could be birth, duel, or play another action card. Use extra cards wisely because at the end of that turn you return to the original card count in your hand. The duel cannot happen until there are at least two pairs of goats on the opposing player's pile. The first birth is protected. Each player creates a herd of goats by creating pairs of cards or stealing cards from another players pile. The first pair must be made by a birth or assisted birth. A birth is a pair taken from the players hand while an assisted birth uses 1 card from the players hand and the top card of the Discard Pile. If you can’t start your herd you discard then draw to mark the end of your turn. Your first pair cannot be taken from you and until you have your herd started you can’t take other actions.
