About this deal

Flexible technology options The host-based virtualization technologies supported by Intel VT include VMDq for Emulated Path: Adapter-based Queue sorting enabling efficient hypervisor-based switching This is one of those parts that is both very interesting, and not interesting at all. Today we have an Intel X710-DA2 OCP NIC 3.0. This is a dual SFP+ 10GbE card which is not exactly groundbreaking in 2020. Indeed, most of the industry has transitioned to 25GbE and using what is usually a PCIe x16 slot for this NIC to deliver dual 10GbE is not overly efficient. Still, the intrigue of the part comes as this is an OCP NIC 3.0 part. With any form factor, we need a range of NICs. In our review, we are going to see what it offers. Intel X710-DA2 OCP NIC 3.0 Dual 10GbE NIC Overview Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Waiver. No waiver of any provision of this Agreement will be valid unless in a writing signed by an authorized representative of the waiving party that specifies the waived provision. That signed waiver will not constitute a waiver of any other provision. A party’s failure or delay in enforcing any provision will not operate as a waiver. Network right now is: 5 Client PCs 1Gbit | 2x TrueNAS (testet the drives, they can do 8Gbit Read 7Gbit write)

Dispute Resolution. If we have a dispute regarding this Agreement (other than a dispute over misappropriation of trade secrets or breaches of confidentiality obligations), neither of us can file a lawsuit or other regulatory proceeding unless the complaining party provides the other party a detailed notice of the dispute and our senior managers attempt to resolve the dispute. If we can’t resolve the dispute in 30 days, either of us may demand mediation and will then try to resolve the dispute with an impartial mediator. If we don’t resolve the dispute within 60 days after the mediation demand, either of us may begin litigation. We tested the X710 OCP NIC using two ports on a 1m breakout QSFP+ DAC to our 32-port Arista 40GbE data center switch. We then varied the port speed and connection type and tested transfer speeds from our network storage. Intel X710 OCP NIC 3.0 Performance Converging data and storage onto one fabric eliminates the need for multiple adapters, cables and switches Empty SFP+ cages for 10GbE connection supporting SFP+ transceivers or DAC cables (except the T4 adapter which has RJ45 ports) Governing Law; Jurisdiction. This Agreement is governed by USA and Delaware law without regard to conflict of laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Except for claims for misappropriation of trade secrets or breach of confidentiality obligations, all disputes and actions arising out of or related to this Agreement are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts in Wilmington, Delaware and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

On the 10Gbps side, this is less of a concern than it is at 40GbE and dual 40GbE speeds, but the Fortville NIC does not have the same level of offloading that newer Columbiaville (Intel Ethernet 800 series) and other NICs have such as the Mellanox solutions. For example, RoCE V2 support Mellanox has been a major proponent of and we find in the Ethernet 800 series, but not these Fortville NICs. The 10GbE NICs here are low-enough speed where the impact on CPU performance does not necessarily require heavy offloads that we see in higher-end NICs. This is certainly more of a basic or foundational NIC. Final WordsWe can see the NICs are using the Intel i40e driver, which is Intel’s mainstream Fortville driver shared with the XL710 series and even the X722 PCH networking options found in Xeon Scalable platforms and the embedded NICs in the Xeon D-2100 series. We can also see SR-IOV support. Low latency: Intel Ethernet Flow Director delivers hardware-based application steering and Intel Data Direct I/O makes the processor cache the primary destination and source of I/O data rather than main memory. Combined, latency is reduced and Intel reports a three-fold improvement in RPS. Compliance with Laws. The Materials are subject to export controls under applicable government laws and regulations, including in the U.S. You must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including U.S. and worldwide export regulations. You must not export, import, or transfer the Materials to any prohibited or sanctioned country, person, or entity. You must not use the Materials for the development, design, manufacture, or production of nuclear, missile, chemical, or biological weapons. PCI-SIG SR-IOV implementation: Provides an implementation of the PCI-SIG standard for I/O Virtualization. The physical configuration of each port is divided into multiple virtual ports. Each virtual port is assigned to an individual VM directly by bypassing the virtual switch in the Hypervisor, which results in near-native performance. The Intel X710 adapters are optimized for data center, cloud, and mobile applications and include the following features: Kindly share more details regarding the issue X710-DA2 does not initialize. Is it being detected from your BIOS and OS or the card does not work at all? Other brands of SFP+ optical modules will not work with the Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710 Series. Third-Party Software. Your use of any third-party software is subject to Your compliance with the license You obtain directly from that third-party. A listing of any such third-party software may be in a text file accompanying the Materials. Part number 01DA900 is supported on the x3850 X6 and x3950 X6, however 81Y3520 is not supported on these servers
