All the guests find the news about the “talking cat” to be absolutely incredible. Whoever in his right mind ever heard of a chatting cat! Craig, Amanda (3 November 2012). The ferry from Kilchoan takes around 30 minutes to reach Tobermory and is great way to travel as a foot passenger to enjoy a relaxing chill out day in this lovely coastal village, sometimes known as Balamory. Remember to look out for the Tobermory cat on the High Street. There is also a great walk along the coast to Aros Park. If you are feeling energetic, you could maybe cycle to Glengorm Castle where there are more great walks and wildlife spotting opportunities. Alternatively, you can opt to take your car on the ferry and drive to Glengorm or further afield with a chance of seeing white-tailed eagles on Loch Frisa or otters on Loch Na Keal.TOP TIP: If you’d like to buy Tobermory Gin, go to your nearest COOP. This supermarket chain currently has exclusive rights to it, so you can’t actually buy it from the distillery. For something more casual, perch outside on a picnic table with some fish and chips at The Pier Café, which sits right on the pier where the CalMac ferry from Kilchoan arrives, in the building underneath Café Fish. The fish and chips were SO good, and I loved that the tartare sauce was served in an oyster shell. Fish and chips always taste better when eaten outside = FACT.

Tobermory had been Appin's one successful pupil, and he was destined to have no successor. A few weeks later an elephant in the Dresden Zoological Garden, which had shown no previous signs of irritability, broke loose and killed an Englishman who had apparently been teasing it. The victim's name was variously reported in the papers as Oppin and Eppelin, but his front name was faithfully rendered Cornelius. Gliori, Debi (22 August 2012). I have read and used Gliori's books at nursery before, and always love the artwork. Gliori has a style that is sharp and detailed. When rereading one of her books, you will notice different details in the artwork than on your initial reading. The illustrations in The Tobermory Cat are no exception, and the people within the illustrations convey obvious emotions to the reader. Isle of Mull Ice Cream Parlour is a yet another colourful addition to Tobermory’s harbour-front. This pretty pink parlour is popular with visitors come rain or shine! Only the best ingredients are used to make the ice-cream: the dairy products come from Scriob Ruadh Farm – the home of Isle of Mull Cheese. You’ll find a selection of classic and interesting flavours, as well as sorbets and frozen yoghurts. Salted hazelnut and raspberry for me please!

Scotland is home to some of the most striking and diverse landscapesto be found anywhere. Fromits lush rolling hillsandmirror-like lakes to its blindingly white beaches, it’s a walker’s and photographer’s paradise. An earlier work (with no association to the town) featuring a troublesome talking cat named 'Tobermory' appeared in a collection of short stories by Saki titled The Chronicles of Clovis in 1911. Other films made in the area include the 1945 Powell and Pressburger classic I Know Where I'm Going!. I don't mind if I do," was the response, couched in a tone of even indifference. A shiver of suppressed excitement went through the listeners, and Lady Blemley might be excused for pouring out the saucerful of milk rather unsteadily.
