About this deal

His appearance is becoming less human-like, with half of his face missing and other parts of his "body" decaying away. But still I liked the little bit of time we got with Khriss and the information that she had to impart. Kelsier: The famed Survivor of Hathsin, a half-skaa Mistborn who led a revolution against the Lord Ruler.

Following the reorganization of the world, Kelsier recruits Spook, who, by virtue of Sazed's new power, is now able to see him, to help him regain a Connection to the Physical Realm by playing with Hemalurgy. Kelsier, who died in Book 1, ends up having more long-term influence than the woman who survived to Book 3 and saved the world. Part of why his original 'Plan B' was emotionally resonant was that over the course of the book, we saw him change somewhat - from someone who hated all nobles to the man who saved Elend's life, and from someone whose stated intention was theft to a man who ended up sacrificing himself for the sake of a revolution. On top of that you get some deeper understanding of Sanderson’s big picture “Cosmere” and the “Shards”, which is helpful when reading The Stormlight Archive books.Threnody is far more important than I'd expected, judging by the fact that the Ire assume that Threnodites are the most likely to attack them. Need I mention that this is as great as the Trilogy cause it is, The world building, plot and writing is well depicted. The third era of Mistborn is slated to be written after the first arc of the Stormlight Archive wraps up.

This is a novella taking place during the events of the first trilogy but it should be read after the first trilogy as it contains major spoilers. As he does, he sees into Preservation's depths and feels his pain and love for his people, so he winds up hugging him in sympathy. I would recommend reading it however either before era 2 or directly after book 6 because a lot of time has passed since I read it and honestly, I wish I read it much earlier. We see the way they react and the things they learn, and we see so much new stuff that it's hard to recount it all and consider all of the implications it has right off for the Cosmere. In fact, Sanderson has said that Kelsier and Denth, from Warbreaker, are almost the same - just in different contexts.

Other people, victims of the Lord Ruler's purge, arrive in the Realm with Kelsier and are almost immediately pulled away to the Beyond. Obviously a lot went unsaid by the end of Era 1 trilogy, and I had assumed back then that they'll be revealed in Era 2.Some things that I didn't like as much were how some parts were very disjointed and I feel like this would have very little merit for someone who is a casual Sanderson reader.

As such, it contains huge spoilers for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages. NOTE: This novella is included within Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection, now available in print, ebook, and audiobook from Tor (US/Canada) and Gollancz (UK/Commonwealth). I KNEW the second I read their names that they had to be from Arelon or Teod, but when the head woman was described as an Elantrian boyyy did I get hyped. There may be more installments to the Secret History story, showing more of what Kelsier is up to behind the scenes with Spook and during the Wax and Wayne books. Kelsier appears to give up hope until he realizes that Ruin is incomplete without atium, and therefore hasn't won yet.It was really mind-blowing to see a bigger picture, meet familiar characters (from other books/worlds) and realize how instrumental Kelsier is to the defeat of Ruin – knowledge we readers were not privy to in Mistborn Era 1.
