About this deal

If your bike is an 11-speed or 10-speed road bike, and you have the EW-WU111/101 Wireless Unit wireless module - just hook your bike up to your bike computer and look up the battery charge level on your Wahoo/Garmin/other bike computer. But to do this, it needs the Di2 Wireless Unit (commonly known as a ‘D-Fly’ unit or by its model code, EW-WU111) to connect up. Not all Di2 bikes come with this because it’s an optional component, and not all Di2 junction boxes are compatible. Type 1 Port External has a fitting to allow you to mount a cable stop to have a cable running externally along the frame. This is usually required when running a front mech on a Pro6 or CX Race.

Here, the throw-to-piston compression ratio is more linear (as it was for previous generations of Shimano disc brake groupsets). This means that comparatively more aggressive pulling of the levers is needed to achieve the same braking force, especially in the earlier phase of the action. If your rear derailleur stops working after a spill or a bash, it may have gone into crash mode, where the motor disengages to prevent damage. If your battery level is at 100 per cent, you will see a continuous green LED. At 50 per cent or above, the green LED will blink five times. Once you get to between 50 per cent and 25 per cent, you’ll see a continuous red LED. Drop below this and you’ll see a blinking red LED displayed.

You can then use the up and down rear mech shift levers to micro-adjust the position of your derailleur as you spin the cranks. Once you’ve got your rear mech running sweetly, press the junction box/controller button again to exit adjustment mode. First, chain line. Shimano’s 12-speed systems are designed around a 44.5mm chain line and 148mm Q-factor. Squealing in wet conditions isn’t overly common, but contaminants (such as oil from a dirty road surface) will still cause some noise. This means that the 12-speed front derailleur is optimised for chainrings that are 1mm further outboard than the ones on the 11-speed cranksets. This method still works well when determining wire lengths for wired shift levers, but the wires plugged into the battery require a slightly different approach. There are three wires that connect Junction B and the other components. Wire F runs to the battery, H to the rear derailleur and the last wire( G) connects the front derailleur.

Di2 stands for “Digital Integrated Intelligence” – Shimano’s version of electronic shifting. DI2 gives you instant, accurate, lightning-fast shifts the first and every time, at the push of a button. Even in the most extreme conditions, shifting is precise and controlled. You can change gear even under heavy load while climbing or accelerating. Type 1 Port Gear Cable has a cable stop, stopping the gear or brake cable housing, allowing the bare inner cable to run internally through the frame. If you’re building a new Di2-equipped bike there are a couple of things you’ll need to decide. We’ve already published a post on what components are available and how to select them. In this post, we look at figuring out how to route the Di2 wires through your frame so that you can put it all together. For each wire, measure the length of the frame sections it has to pass through and write down the required length Shimano 105 Di2 R7100 brought electronic shifting to Shimano’s third-tier road groupset level, and importantly for some, it ported over the wireless shifters seen on the latest generation Dura-Ace and Ultegra groupsets.Your Di2 bike can connect wirelessly to your phone and other bike hardware such as a GPS unit using either Bluetooth, ANT+ or both.

That's partly the reason Easton has avoided the full internal routing that comes with its aero bars. The focus here is a durable lightweight design at a respectable price, which Easton has achieved. Fundamentally, though, achievable power is still more than enough – your tyre adhesion is always the limiting factor – while modulation even without Servo Wave is excellent. Has Shimano cut any electronic features from 105 Di2 compared to Dura-Ace or Ultegra Di2? All else being equal, though, for most riders it’s unlikely that this weight difference is going to make much difference to how fast you can climb a hill, and even less when riding on the flat. Is it possible to dremel shallow channels to give the cables slightly more room? Or would this affect the integrity of the BB shell? (Not that I have a dremel...) Compared to the front derailleur, the rear derailleur performs like a replica of the latest-generation Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2 models.

While support for optional satellite shifters has been dropped, along with the physical hood-top buttons, the functionality of the electronic system and E-Tube Project app is identical.
