About this deal

This is the bare Christmas tree before embellishment. Depend on how you want to embellish it, I made 4 different designs here for you reference.

If you look closely, you can tell that I used 3 different colors of green glitter. I like the contrast it adds to my sparkly styrofoam holiday forest:) I added Christmas fairy lights, some festive fabric, and displayed the trees in foam. There are so many ways you can style this craft to decorate your home!Place the foam on a small plate (I put mine on a small plastic lid—you can’t see it because of the tree collar) to catch water while you work on your succulent tree. You can also put it on whatever base you plan on displaying the tree on. I transferred my tree to a platter when I was finished.

Our clever crafting ideas include suggestions for all ages and abilities, from super-simple potato prints that are great for toddlers, right up to an entire nativity scene that can keep older kids occupied for hours.

In the gallery above, you'll find loads of different ways for your kids to craft their own Christmas tree pictures or models, from simple handprint paintings to more elaborate creations involving wool, playdough or buttons. The gallery above shows exactly what you'll need for each idea, but in general, the following supplies are all handy for crafting your Christmas masterpieces: Worsted is the most popular yarn weight for many crochet decor projects. It’s easy to work with (not too fine nor too bulky), holds up well over time, is affordable, and offers plenty of colors and fiber options. Some of my favorite yarns for crocheted Christmas trees include Red Heart Super Saverand Bernat Super Value Yarn. Christmas is the perfect time to encourage your child's creative side. Homemade decorations will give your festive preparations a personal touch, and can be a lovely keepsake to pass down the generations. After the glue is applied, it’s time to add the glitter. Now, I know some people are afraid of crafting with glitter, but I love it and I have NO shame admitting that glittery sparkly crafts always put a smile on my face. The MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO when working with glitter is to prepare your workspace first. Have paper plates ready for each different color, spread the supplies out before getting started, open the glitter container tops before starting, and move slowly. Rushing over an unprepared workspace with glitter is where messes can happen.Insert a short length yarn through the mini pom pom and tie to make the hanging string for the Christmas tree. The number one rule is to always put down plenty of newspaper or plastic sheeting before you start. A cheap tarpaulin or shower curtain can be a great option. It's surprising how far paint can go when kids are involved, so be sure to protect a wide area of floor. Keep kitchen roll or baby wipes close at hand for any emergency clear-ups. Be sure to praise your kids for their Christmas creations. Even if it's not a work of art, you can always congratulate them for trying so hard! Most of the ideas work best as simple ornaments that you can place around the house. Kids will love giving handmade Christmas ornaments as a gift, too!

We also added a bit more fresh spinach to the bottom of the plate for more decoration. It turned out perfect! Way better than I ever imagined it would! When reaching the tip of the cone, cut the yarn away and hide the end on the tip with a small dot of glue.Crochet Christmas trees also make excellent gifts during the holidays. Or, you can make up a bunch of them ahead of time and sell them online or locally. There are so many fun patterns to choose from, so giving or selling them is a perfect excuse to try them all (okay, maybe not ALL…)! More Christmas Crochet Patterns
