About this deal

Overall this start to a series shows promise and I am intrigued and interested in seeing where this goes.

Este libro ha sido una sorpresa, tanto los protagonistas como el desarrollo de su romance me ha encantado, son maravillosos.I really struggled to envision how the world looked as it read as a country at times or as a small city in others. There are parts I feel like a try to get the reader to be emotionally involved with the character but it just doesn't work for me. Legion is by far my favourite character as he is the most complex and developed and the things he says and does are swoon inducing. He's a tortured morally grey hero and I can't wait for him to make me question why I'm still on his side. Why did the author, who appears to be a white woman, make the choice to have an enslaved nation of Black people in her book, when issues such as slavery and equality could have been discussed just as effectively without doing so?

I will say that the FMC does make some really dumb decisions BUT She does them in a way that you can relate to As a younger coming of age adult. The world building I think needs the most help, this is supposed to have Vikings in it and I’m not getting that at all from this. The second half of the book moved VERY fast as it was so action packed it jumbled and mixed together that following along (especially at the end) was a little confusing, but I stuck with it and hoped things would clear up (and they did).He may be arrogant and infuriating, but soon Legion incites a blistering, forbidden passion she can’t ignore. It’s just that I wonder how much of my feelings about it are influenced by its similarity to a series I’m crazy about. After the 65% mark the pace picked up way more so the end piqued my interest to see what happens next, but I’m not biting at the bit to read more. I am very convinced that the author did not have an editor especially seeing how quickly these books have been released, so clearly no editor has looked at any of these and you can see it in the writing to there’s plenty of mistakes. There is something in his darkness that is pulling towards the light in Elise and he won’t let her slip through his fingers, no matter how hard she fights him.

There is a reason I read books with the same tropes constantly, so it’s almost expected on some level I know what is going to happen. So I've been in a book slump for The last month and I happened to come across this author's tiktok And read the blurb and I sat on the book for a few weeks until I saw another TikTok And decided to take the plunge because I noticed that the last book comes out soon So by the time I finish Reading needs the last one will be out. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This seems somewhat at odds with the surface level messages on race and slavery presented by the book (i.She is shown in the start to be rebellious, reckless and brave, but at the times she needs to be brave she almost appears naive, weak and acts as a “damsel in distress” that needs saving. The plot was very predictable but it didn’t distract from the fact that I was enjoying reading the story. Filled with luscious world building, banter-filled romance, and epic battles, this first book in the Broken Kingdoms series is part Viking, part fairy tale.

In real life this translates to money being given to white organisations (such as tourism for volunteering and missionary trips) instead of directly to the marginalised communities in question, where it would arguably be more effective.Due to her fathers health he cannot do the negotiations and the King does not have time to do it either, so he assigns the task to the incredibly gorgeous and mysterious Legion Grey… Legion has secrets (and unknown to her but known to the reader he is cursed) and after events unfold Elise finds herself needing to make an impossible choice that could save Legion but comes with a great sacrifice. They seemed like they went from "Ok, we can be friends after I felt betrayed by you" to " I love you, never leave me and I'll die for you! A lot of their history is told, not shown through actual “history lessons” disguised as journal entries. There is a lot going on And there are people coming for the Crown but you also find out quickly that there are lots of Fae In this book and you realize that the throne was taken by Elisa's distant relatives that are now dead.
