About this deal

Johnson’s art and Spicer’s colors are unreal—except in a few cases where the action becomes a little hard to follow—and it gives the comic an identity that is wholly distinct from anything else DC is doing right now. All-Loving Hero: Diana's status as this gets a very thorough examination throughout the series, especially in conjunction with her status as a brutal warrior.

Wonder Woman: Dead Earth (Comic Book) - TV Tropes

This dark and bloody alternate reality tale presents a story of Wonder Woman waking up hundreds of years after the world is destroyed in an apocalyptic event. Znáte takovou tu situaci, kdy vám někdo něco strašlivě dlouho hypuje a ono to pak kvůli tomu zklame? Diana has an absurd fight with Superman (he apparently keeps a container full of kryptonite next to his chair) and the way she treats Superman’s remains is both gruesome and disrespectful. In March 2020, following the success of Batman: White Knight (2017–2018) and Batman: Curse of the White Knight (2019–2020), both comics created by Sean Murphy, it was reported that DC was interested in creating a mini-imprint centered around Murphy's works.

She helps the survivors who find her to battle against bloodthirsty beasts and the human overlord that is ruling unjustly over them. Diana is a warrior, willing to use violence and even kill in the name of the greater good and it’s that dynamic that makes her totally unique from Superman and Batman.

Feeling utterly defeated, she channels the iota of hope within her to try and make a difference that can allow humans to embrace a second chance at a life void of neglect, chaos, and destruction. Diana’s bracers are her submission from using her full power, and when she loses them she destroys the world. It is mostly thanks to the underlying message of hope that this story manages to keep afloat and send readers off with the prospect of change, love, and happiness.

Reaching into his family liquor cabinet, Batman sits down in his chair and actually takes a drink of alcohol--something he's avoided while putting on the airs of loving to drink as Bruce Wayne. But “Dead Earth” is a perfect example of the freedom that was supposed to be encouraged by this line. And in “Dead Earth,” the heroine is almost constantly covered in dirt, scratches, matted hair, and tattered clothes that illustrate her warrior nature. and especially “ Murder Falcon ” show Johnson’s love of heavy metal music and the genre’s influence on his own art, both through the subject matter of songs and the wild covers of so many albums. Themyscira's magical defenses lead to some of the nukes being redirected to other places around the world.

Wonder Woman: Dead Earth: Johnson, Daniel Warren, Spicer

Fortunately, through Wonder Woman, it is possible to identify the very virtues she fights for and recognize her iron will and belief that there is still good in everyone despite what her environment reveals, giving readers a vessel of hope in this dilapidated world. Now it’s not only humanity that Diana must question her trust in, but herself – who has become the cause of her own worst nightmare. The best example of the comic’s inability or unwillingness to go deeper than the surface is best seen in a supporting character’s “redemption” arc. And Dee also benefits from Johnson’s androgynous approach, as she’s clearly designed to echo Steve Trevor. And the power of this story is that Johnson is able to keep both of these tenets in balance with one another. DC Announces 'The Nice House On The Lake' by James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno" (Press release).

Diana herself goes from making leadership speeches about love and hope, to murdering people before our eyes, to philosophizing fate and trust, to slaughtering soldiers. I Need a Freaking Drink: After bringing Diana to the Batcave and placing her in the healing pod, Bruce, already dying from radiation poisoning, enjoys his first drink on a couch overlooking the ruins of Gotham, the same couch his corpse is found on centuries later. And while that on its own is a compelling exploration, Johnson one-ups this with the reveal of Diana’s direct involvement in the “Great Fire,” shifting the question from whether humanity deserves a second chance to whether Diana does. Beyond writing and editing, she was the Film School Director at River Way Ranch Camp and the Assistant Director on the play Famous. Featuring weekly comic release discussions, creator AMAs, a friendly and helpful userbase, and much more! When Wonder Woman awakens from a centuries-long sleep to discover the Earth reduced to a nuclear wasteland, she knows she failed. Daniel Warren Johnson’s 4-issue miniseries “ Wonder Woman: Dead Earth ” was published in 2020 under DC Comics’ Black Label imprint and follows Princess Diana, who has suddenly woken up in a post-apocalyptic earth. The premise of the story is Diana waking up in an apocalyptic future where mankind is on its last legs and she's the only hero left who can save the world! It’s frustrating, to say the least, and speaks to the deeper issues that prevent the comic from ever crossing the threshold from “cool” to “memorable. The main line titles in this universe have been written and drawn by Murphy himself, with spin-offs being written and drawn by other creators.
