About this deal

When a brooding artist encounters a moving train for the first time, serendipitous events occur. They trigger memories of past lives in which he was twice murdered—once on a train. With a third death in his current life imminent, he and a woman he meets go hunting for remnants of his past lives. Yomi and the Fury of Ninki Nanka is a greatly entertaining quest story, where the mystery adventure genre is elevated and made unique by the captivating landscape and culture that the story is set within. Yomi and Kayode's witnesses and sources of information include some of the Sacred Beast themselves, and their sleuthing involves being nearly drowned by giant beast crustaceans, questioning spirit hippos and a 'sky rope', alongside defying death, time and time again. The brother and sister are bold, determined characters - Yomi's headstrong impatience and Kayode's quieter, more thoughtful manner make a great mystery-solving duo. Last weekend, I went out with my dad for a nice lunch. I said: ‘Dad, could we pop into Foyles, just to see?’ They had copies of my book! Dad took a photo of me signing them. He has always been my wingman, my supporter. I also went to the Waterstones in Croydon and they'd put my book in the window! An exhilarating, tragicomic debut novel about the indomitable child of a scorned, formerly land-owning family who must grow up in the wake of Ethiopia’s socialist revolution. It is about what happens when mother, God, and country are at odds, and how one difficult child finds her voice.

Yomi and the Fury of Ninki Nanka is a magnificent story that is filled with excitement. The book is short in length but it is not short on amazing scenes and fabulous characters, including wonderful illustrations. In 2006, a team of dragon hunters from the CFZ went to Gambia to look for the Ninki Nanka. They were met with varying testimonies from individuals who claimed to have seen the creature or had an encounter with it. Eyewitnesses claim that it resembled a Chinese dragon and lived in the waters.Gifting books to schools is a wonderful way to support reading for all children.
