The primary difference between masters and ordinary people is that the masters never gave up on their craft and took as long as it was necessary to perfect it. It directed you toward activities and subjects that fit your natural inclinations, that sparked a curiosity that was deep and primal. Then he moves through gorgeous passages on figures such as the Wright Brothers or Albert Einstein, concluding with Goethe’s life story. He did become a lawyer--a prominent and successful one--but I think back to our conversation in 1986 and wonder whether he has second thoughts (God knows I do).While there was nothing really wrong with Mastery, per se, I did not enjoy it as much as many of the other books on mastery and mindset that I have read recently.
