About this deal

Now, when they go home, they don’t go home for long. Disease is greedy. It takes pieces of you until you no longer recognize yourself, and Neo, C, and Sony don’t recognize themselves outside this place anymore. Not when there’s a storm between your ribs.” Neo taps the scars of blood vessels climbing C’s collarbones. “Your veins brew lightning. It’s trying to escape.” There was a moment where I believe Sam describes Neo’s mom’s reaction to seeing them, saying something like “I know from the look on her face that she can’t tell if I’m a boy or a girl.” That sentiment would have been nice if the fact that Sam’s androgyny wasn’t just because they weren’t exactly human. Time, Disease, and Deathare rueful mechanics that way. They enjoy crafting nooses out of fear, and they love playing games. Shadows their dresses, they curve over your shoulder with eerie fingers coaxing you into the dark, taking your body, your mind, and anything they please with it. Just past the cars, a river cuts the city in two. Its bridge is all that connects either side. A bridge I’ve known my entire life that creates an ache in my chest. Instead of laughing strangers and children throwing coins into the water, I see snow across the railing. I see the dark.

All in all, this book was simply not for me. The writing style was overbearing, the characters were flat, and there wasn’t a plot I could get hooked on to. Sony leads the charge with the air of freedom and just one lung to breathe it. Neo, a cranky, wheelchair-bound writer, follows our great deeds, from stealing to terrorizing our nurse. Coeur is the beautiful boy, the muscular, gentle giant with a weak heart. Against the unforgiving landscape of a hospital, I broke the one rule dying people must always follow. I fell in love. I fell in love with a mischievous, sun-eyed boy who became my only joy in such a desolate place. That's what made it all the mor...The author of this touching love story goes under the pseudonym Lancali. She is an author who has been involved in the world of letters for a short time, the first release of her book I Fell in Love with Hope took place on August 1, 2022, and she became a recognized and loved author for dealing with topics that touch anyone's heart. She specializes in the genre of romance, drama and mystery, and is also a passionate reader of romance books. PART 2: Introduction to the New Factors of I Fell in Love with Hope There was something else about the prose that kept annoying me and I couldn’t figure out what. Then I realized: it’s all so *quotable*. Now that I know the author runs a Tiktok account, it all makes sense: every line felt like it was meant to be put in a “quote video” or whatever. Everything was wrapped in so many layers of metaphor it was impossible to parse. There also weren’t many “service sentences”; everything felt like it was meant to be a gut punch to the point where nothing felt like one. I find this to be a particularly young/immature way of writing—in an attempt to make everything meaningful, meaning is erased, because they don’t know how to properly utilize poetic writing. For example: Sam’s genderfluidity was not genuine in the slightest. Remember, Sam is the incarnation of the hospital. They created a body for themself. If you read all of this, thank you. I know I can get pretty heated when I’m passionate about something, so I hope this review doesn’t contain much of my rage. I know some squeaked their way in, but again, I have a hard time toning down strong feelings.

Sony sniffles dry air and wipes at tears that haven’t fallen. “We just wanted to go to the roof like old times, rebel a little,” she says, shrugging her shoulders, laughing at herself. “I don’t know what I’ll do if he doesn’t make it. He’s such a good soul. He lost his parents in a fire, you know, and his puppy! I—”Neo is a writer, a bitter poet. Unlike Sony, he is silent, and unlike C, he is remorseless. His spine is fragile, but his words make up for it. He’s bony and short, so small we call him Baby, although, for a baby, he sure has a temper. I’m fairly certain he’s never worn a smile in his life. I’ve known him the longest, and though he’s scowly and mean, it’s all a mask, his protection. He’s also the smartest person I know—observant, creative, resilient—the one who plans and records our great feats of thievery. He claims that Sony and I are extroverts who’ve kidnapped him and coerced him into being our friend, but I know he secretly enjoys the company. Hospitals are lonely until you find your people.
