Review: I had no idea how many different colors she wore. The photos and explanations were interesting. I also love hats, I wish they were worn here more often. Will go thru this book again and again! Read Our Rainbow Queen: A Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and Her Colorful Wardrobe by Sali Hughes ePub There’s one longevity trait Elizabeth shares with active 90somethings around the world: a strong sense of purpose. The long-lived Japanese call it having an ikigai, 'a reason for living'. The Queen Mother, who lived to 101, knew it by the French term 'devoir', meaning duty. Elizabeth recognised her devoir at age 21, promising 'that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service…' Incidentally, the longer she has embraced her purpose, the longer her life has been lengthened – a virtuous cycle supported by studies showing the amazing biological benefits of living for something larger than yourself, from boosting your immune system to reducing your risk of Alzheimer’s. Elizabeth is in no rush to retire from the power of purpose, sharing the long view of her cousin, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark: 'I will remain on the throne until I fall off.' Overall, I would give Our Rainbow Queen a rating of 4.5 out of 5. The only downside for me was that at times, the book felt a bit repetitive, as Hughes tends to revisit certain themes and ideas multiple times. However, this is a minor flaw in an otherwise fantastic and inspiring read. Driven by commitment and loyalty, The Queen’s wardrobe choices are part of her leadership; she wears bright colours because she believes it’s her duty to be seen by the people who’ve waited—often in the wet and cold—behind barriers to see her,” Plume said in a press release.Read Our Rainbow Queen: A Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and Her Colorful Wardrobe by Sali Hughes Kindle

Unlike the author, I am not a Brit. Like the author, I am not a "Royalist". I couldn't care less where Harry and Meghan live. My interest in the Royal Family began and ended with Wallis Simpson. However, this is an interesting look at QEII. No one except Elizabeth and Philip know the inscription inside her wedding ring. She never removes her coat in public. Her hat brim never obscures her face. She never wears diamonds before 6:00 pm. Her skirts have weighted hems so there is no chance of a wardrobe malfunction on a windy day. Her preferred heel height is 2.25".

Another strength of Our Rainbow Queen is Hughes' ability to connect with her readers on a personal level. Throughout the book, she shares relatable and often humorous anecdotes that will resonate with many people. I found myself nodding along and laughing at some of the situations she described, and I think this is a big part of what makes the book so enjoyable to read.
