About this deal

No Time for Goodbye is a powerful reminder that sometimes, closure can only come from within ourselves." No Time for Goodbye is a fascinating exploration of how an individual's identity can be completely altered in a single moment." After spending his formative years helping run a cottage resort and trailer park after his father died when he was 16, Barclay got his first newspaper job at the Peterborough Examiner, a small Ontario daily. In 1981, he joined the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest circulation newspaper. Naturally, there was a point where I was just positive I had the puzzle solved, which was a huge let down. I was very disappointed- I mean really upset that yet another veteran author 'phoned in.' But, as it turns out, I wasn't nearly as smart as I thought I was. Maybe I was the one being lazy- Or the very least, guilty of not giving the author a little more credit than that. I would highly recommend this thriller. Barclay never lets me down and once again he has followed through with a novel that has blown me away!

However, the typewriter itself is a problem. Paul swears it’s possessed and types by itself at night. But only Paul can hear the noise coming from downstairs; Charlotte doesn’t hear a thing. And she worries he’s going off the rails. You won't want to put this one one down. And, as the dénouement approaches and the action actually starts to happen, it's fast, it's frantic and it's compelling. I'm certain this will qualify as one of my best reads of the year. Highly recommended. Were they murdered? Kidnapped? Did they leave and abandon their daughter? It's three decades later and no one has any idea. But Cynthia is permanently scarred by what happened and she's living with the damage, which is affecting her marriage and her 8-year-old daughter, who is overprotected by Cynthia. Besides their three #1 records, their other Top 10 record was "It's Not Over (Til It's Over)", it reached #9 for one week in August of 1987...

To give credit where credit is due the central hook or plot twist which drives this story is fairly ingenious, unfortunately the narrative around it is doled out piecemeal and at times excruciatingly slow, drip by drip as if from an eye-dropper. I also found Terry and Cynthia unrealistic - for instance Cynthia, an understandably over-protective mother, abandons her daughter without a second thought in the middle of a crowded shopping mall to chase a man who looks like her long lost brother. When Terry follows her lead, she blows up at him for leaving their daughter alone in the Food Court. The book is full of such incongruities concerning our protagonists. Because of this I found it difficult to work up any empathy for these two and at times found them downright aggravating. The 2023 CWA Daggers Shortlists Have Been Announced". Ian Fleming. 2023-05-17 . Retrieved 2023-07-10.This is a fun psychological thriller, very entertaining, with perfectly timed twists, and expert pacing. There are some weak spots, a few highly implausible scenarios and dialogue, but for the most part this story is tightly woven, effective, and very suspenseful. I can say, though, that when tenacious police detective Rona Wedmore is assigned to this case, she discovers -- based on that map left in the Archer home -- a car and two decomposed bodies in a nearby lake. But before DNA results can be found, more danger assaults the Archer clan, in the shape of mysterious figures determined to no longer remain safely in history. Their re-emergence will lead to deaths in the present. It seems that the disappearance of Cynthia Bigge’s family was far more complex than even she imagined -- and the past is far closer than she supposed. Sarah Lynn Wilson from Fremont, OhioI was named after this song and even God knows how much I love it because it describes my life perfectly. I was also names after Sarah smile and Sara by Fleetwood Mac and they all seem to envelop me well. However, Paul's digging around in the past, visiting with the victim's families, and coming face to face with the man who nearly killed him, might not be as healthy as Paul anticipated.

Cynthia finds herself abandoned by her family one day, she’s woken up one day and they’ve simply vanished. The story continues on the 25th anniversary of Cynthia’s disappearance, when she has a family of her own and is desperate to find out exactly what happened. Are they dead or alive? How could they have left her alone? Many red herrings later, and a lot of enjoyable characters were introduced along the way. This book was just okay. It's a thriller. Cynthia's 14 when her mom, dad, and older brother disappear one night. Their cars are missing. Their beds aren't slept in. There's no trace of them. Fast forward 25 years and Cynthia is married to high school English teacher Terry and is the mom of 8 year old Grace. They live a short distance from the home everyone disappeared from (she had gone to live with her mother's sister Aunt Tess after that happened)and she works part time in the dress shop of her old friend from high school Pamela. As Paul becomes increasingly hysterical, convinced this typewriter is haunted in some way, his wife becomes more and more worried for his well-being. But, Paul is determined to investigate the murders, hoping to find answers that will help him find closure. The characters in No Time for Goodbye are incredibly well-developed; I felt like I really got to know them as the story progressed." One evening, John sees a work colleague driving erratically and follows him to see if he can help. Unfortunately, his colleague was trying to cover up a crime, and Paul becomes collateral damage. It’s understandable that Cynthia would be worried -- and she has good reason, because even 25 years later, her family’s disappearance remains a complete mystery.

This is a song about a true love that was doomed by meaningless yet painful conflicts of mysterious origin. Barclay’s 2011 thriller, The Accident, has been turned into the six-part television series L’Accident in France, and he adapted his novel Never Saw it Coming for the movie, directed by Gail Harvey and starring Eric Roberts and Emily Hampshire. Several of his other books either have been, or still are, in development for TV and film. As the investigation deepens they go to find Vince h er former boyfriend who has a chequered past he helps but gets shot in the process. Before I go even further, I have to warn you that this book is not for those people who get easily put off by the constant use of swear words. If you can stand it, go ahead – if you can’t, this one is not for you. Thankfully, I belong to the first category so it didn’t really bother me but I know it might be a big no-no for some people. The novel starts with 14-year-old Cynthia Bigge waking up one morning in May 1983, to find her father Clayton, her mother Patricia and her brother Todd have all mysteriously disappeared from their home. The previous evening she had had a fight with her parents after secretly meeting with a boy, Vince.Thank you to William Morrow Publishers and Edelweiss for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
