I definitely enjoyed this more than Brutal Prince because I love a ‘calm’ romance, if that makes any sense lol.He’s had a hard time getting it up and cumming before meeting Nessa, but with her around, he gets hard immediately and can come in under a minute. An atmospheric, slow burn mafia romance with definite Beauty and the Beast vibes in Stolen Heir as head of the Polish Braterstvo, Mikolaj kidnaps Nessa Griffin as the first stage of his revenge against her family and the Gallos for the murder of his father in Brutal Prince, the previous book in the series. Little spots of grease seep through the paper bag from the egg and cream pastries, dusted with powdered sugar to suit their name of “Angel Wings. He does slowly start to show her some kindness but even then I was confused as to why he did so in the first place.

Might not sound calming since this is a captor-captive romance, but it was to me in tone, atmosphere and setting. Honestly, I didn’t like this story much, but for some reason, I’m going to keep reading this series (maybe in a few months). I enjoyed that there was no insta-love between the hero and heroine or abductor and hostage if you prefer despite the obvious chemistry Their relationship built up slowly with very little physical interaction until probably half way through the book with Nessa always aware of just how dangerous her captor was. It’s fast paced and the perfect cure for reading slump and i think Sophie Lark is going to be my go to in any reading slump condition. Addicts break in to sleep on piles of rags, injecting themselves with flesh-rotting Russian krokodil.
