The film stars child actor Federico Ielapi as the title character, Roberto Benigni as Geppetto, [a] Gigi Proietti as Mangiafuoco, Rocco Papaleo [b] and Massimo Ceccherini as the Cat and the Fox, and Marine Vacth as the adult Fairy with Turquoise Hair. Non-speaking animal characters include Geppetto's pet kitten Figaro and goldfish Cleo, and Monstro, an enormous, chimeric sea monster who devours anything that crosses his path. Adrian Horton of The Guardian gave the film three out of five stars, saying, "A live-action take on the classic animation has effective visual moments and an impactful turn from Tom Hanks but never quite justifies its existence.

It is the second live-action Pinocchio film to star Benigni, following the 2002 adaptation, and the second to star Papaleo, after the 2012 animated film. Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John, an anthropomorphic red fox who convinces Pinocchio to go to Stromboli's puppet show. But in this remake, he does it again but only this time, Sabina helps him get it off his nose instead of Stromboli, but in a nice way since Fabiana and Sabina are really good friends to Pinocchio.Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Depth of Field and ImageMovers, this film is a live-action remake of Walt Disney's 1940 animated feature film of the same name, which is itself based on the 1883 Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.
