About this deal

AVI, MP4, MKV, TS, FLV, OGG, MOV, MPG, MPEG, VOB, WEBM, OGM, WMA, FLAC, MP2, MP3, JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, WAV, AAC The main HDR formats are repped in HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Hisense says the 65U8QFTUK can hit a peak brightness of 1000 nits – and it can certainly go bright. HDR content is given a punchy, gleaming, near three-dimensional presentation at times. Oddly the 65U8HQ’s troublesome IPS panel doesn’t seem to give us as much of a viewing angle benefit as might be expected. Colours perhaps hold up better from an angle than they might on a regular VA panel, but contrast falls away – not least because the clouding problem becomes significantly worse. You’re not going to get this level of performance from the bigger TV brands at this screen size or price.

So yes, as I may have already mentioned: this is a specification that’s out of proportion to the asking price. Picture Quality Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) The 65U8G comes with a ton of picture modes, and you should explore them because each has a significant impact on what you see. The picture mode options differ based on the source material, which can be confusing. If you’re watching something that supports Dolby Vision, you get three options: Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision Dark and Dolby Vision Custom. If it’s not in Dolby Vision, you can choose from more options, including Vivid, Standard, Theater Day and Filmmaker Mode. The latter two turn off all motion smoothing —which I welcomed, because any mode that had motion smoothing (Motion Enhancement in the settings) turned on made me nauseated. I’m not a fan of any motion smoothing, but the one of the 65U8G was so obvious as to be distracting and definitely negatively affected fast action scenes. Color performance is downright fantastic. The above chart shows color measurements using an SDR signal compared with Rec.709 broadcast standard color values, and using an HDR10 signal compared with DCI-P3 digital cinema color values, both using the Theater Day picture mode. In both cases, the U8G covers the respective color spaces with impressive accuracy out of the box. Only one color deviated significantly from its ideal levels, with magenta leaning quite red with an HDR10 signal, but all primary colors hit their marks nearly perfectly. The remote is a similar effort to previous and a slight improvement as it doesn’t attempt to cram as many buttons into a small space. We discovered a flaw with the equipment used to force an HDR signal when measuring color volume and the color gamut. We've switched to a new tool and updated our measurements. The color gamut and volume have changed slightly. This cookie is set by the Bazaarvoice. There’s blooming off-axis and, disappointingly, a slight shift in seating is all that’s needed for it to manifest. Also a problem is a green tint to shadows. You can see a green emphasis on the wall behind Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home in the Dolby Vision Dark profile that isn’t apparent in the Dolby Vision Bright mode – and this issue ranges from slight to more visible, depending on the content.

Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) That’s it for the 2022 Hisense TV models announced so far. Below are the 2021 models that are still on sale online and in-store. Hisense TV 2021 U9GQ As well as Dolby Vision and Vision IQ, this Hisense 55” TV also offers multi-format HDR – including HDR10+. HDR10+ offers scene-by-scene HDR mastering for the truest, most accurate HDR picture technology. Each scene is optimised, meaning the maximum amount of detail is shown – even in the brightest or darkest moments. While racing through the streets in Forza Horizon 4, the car showed no blurring and details in the foreground —such as the asphalt of the road —were very sharp. The 65U8G’s strengths in color and contrast helped make World’s Edge in Apex Legend a vivid experience, with vivid yellows and excellent details in shadows. Hisense U8G Android TV review: Audio You’d have to go some to find a 65-inch television as thoroughly specified as this one for less than Hisense wants for the 65U7KQTUK – so as long as it performs up to the standard of its specification rather than down to the level of its asking price, it’s going to be a winner… Availability

Design, Connections and Control

The 65U8HQ uses Quantum Dots to make its colours rather than typical LED filters, opening the door to an expanded colour gamut to go with its high Mini LED-inspired brightness, while pictures have the potential to be enhanced by Hisense’s new Hi-View processing engine, tendrils of which extend into multiple image areas.

Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. The Hisense uses the company’s proprietary VIDAA smart TV platform, here in its ‘U7’ guise. It covers the whole screen, which is seldom a good idea, but it’s fully loaded with catch-up and streaming service apps of lesser or greater importance – and they’re all the best version of themselves, too, which is handy. For people with less lofty expectations, this screen will likely be an attractive one, especially if you factor in its multi-HDR support. Its SDR performance is satisfying and its HDR performance can be impressive. I’m interested to see what Hisense does with its 2021 TV range. You should buy the Hisense 65U8QFTUK if…

To go with the low lag time, the 65U8G includes the features that gamers are looking for to take advantage of the latest game consoles. With two HDMI 2.1 ports, the 65U8G supports 4K at 120Hz, automatic low latency mode, variable refresh rate and AMD FreeSync, all in an effort to deliver the smoothest game experience possible. Anyway, the 65U7KQTUK is a 4K ULED TV with Quantum Dot technology, capable – so says Hisense – of reproducing over one billion colours.
