But how in the world did he get his fire-engine red fur? Hot glue thin wire around the perimeter of one shape. Place another ear shape on top of the first shape to make an ear sandwich. Repeat with the other 2 ear shapes. Allow the ears to dry and cool. Oh well, it doesn't matter how Clifford got his vibrant red coat because Clifford's most lovable trait isn't his appearance; it's his personality. Even if Clifford were bright blue, or lime green, or banana yellow, or dark purple, Clifford would still be a loyal friend to Emily Elizabeth and we would still consider him the best all-around pet. Use 1 piece of felt per ear. Fold felt in half and draw an ear shape. Cut out the shape to make 2 identical ear shapes. Repeat with the other piece of felt. You will have 4 total ear shapes. Instructions: For the tail, cut two curved, triangular-shaped pieces of fabric about 8" long. Sew the right sides together, leaving the base of the triangle open for stuffing. Turn the right side out, stuff firmly, and sew the end shut. Have your child put on the sleeper, and gently (!) pin the tail where you'd like it to be.
