About this deal

This activity encourages creativity, fine motor and malleable skills, one to one correspondence and counting skills. This activity was so much fun to set up! I had done this when Manu was a baby and each time we have played with it is a different experience. As he gets older the challenge increases! Rhyming text and beauitful, hand-stitched illustrations make this an ideal book for parents and young children to share. Thanks Amie! Yes I am all about hands on , playful learning so most of the ideas are play dough, painting and active learning so will be perfect for 3 year olds (and toddlers too for that matter!) Some of there resources I share may be better for 4+ but the numbers and alphabet for e.g. are great for any age to have as free play manipulatives.

Use this file folder printable to practice matching shapes. Use the color matching spider sheet to match each shape. Why does this slime look weird? It was actually failed attempt to do slime with clear glue but the texture was a fun one. It is like Playdough got married with slime, so I let it and Manu loves it. You can use just Playdough or just slime to recreate the bin. This will be the real test to see which shapes he knows and which shape they still need to practice. One of my favorite sensory bin themes is using water. This is perfect for those babies and toddlers still putting things in their mouth. Using a colander, create a water sensory bin, practice pouring skills as well as taking the time to splash and start learning “sink or float” concepts. Small group discussion: what was special about Anansi’s spider sons? Who was your favourite? Why? How can we work together and help each other? Ask questions to encourage the children to give more information: What? Why? Where? Who?

I love how ideas just come out of doing other activities. This was initially a spooky spider sensory bottle because Halloween is just around the corner and when I shared it with my son I started to sing the itsy bitsy spider. Ohhh I had purple glitter because it was a spooky spider but I’d I changed it to blue, then it would act as the rain!! Thanks so much for this it’s a real inspiration for me as I love looking at your blog but really struggle with how to engage my 1 and 2 year old girls. Enhance your water play provision with plastic bugs and mini-beasts frozen in ice. Add plastic spiders and tubes to scaffold ‘Incy, Wincy Spider’ rhyme. Once upon a Spidery time... If possible have a selection of pictures of spiders, soft toys or puppets to represent the characters and to focus attention. These will also aid any additional retelling and sequencing activities. Age: Tabbies to work on learning colors and 2’s to practice on similarities and differences as well as color matching.Itsy Bitsy Spider” or “Incy Wincy Spider” is a modern nursery rhyme that is very popular among children and one of our favorite nursery rhymes at home. How many different creatures can you find - worms, slugs, snails, caterpillars, beetles, ants, woodlice, ladybirds? Make a simple graph to record your findings.

Our new thing around the house is themed bath time. Sometimes is for our morning time and sometime like today is for our night time. For this activity all you need is a basket with holes on the side, white yarn, and plastic spiders.

Incy Wincy Spider” (also popularly known as “ Itsy Bitsy Spider”) is one of the most popular nursery rhyme. It is generally accompanied by finger movements coordinated with the lyrics of the nursery rhyme. This joyful rhyme describes how a spider goes up, comes downs and again climbs up the waterspout of a gutter system.” At the time of creating these activities my son is 2.5 years old but some of these activities can be adjusted to older or younger toddlers. Kids develop at different times so just judge what your child can and can’t do. Lesson plan for itsy bitsy Spider Sorry I mean I really struggle to engage their interest in anything and I never know what I should be doing. It would be good to have some advice from you as you are obviously doing a great job.
